Australia 2011 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Orkney Grey
New to me 2011.5 AB

..the thing wont start when I was about to drive away... Seem like a flat battery, alternator etc

I went through the sale anyways, ..got it started and I drove home without issue. Loved the 2hr drive home

Things to do before I can think of going places:

New (mostly for my peace of mind)
- Alternator
- Starter
- Battery
- Water Pump
- Pully(s) + Belt

Not sure:
- To do the drain yet
- Suspecting coolant loss due to usual oil cooler issue (this was done @113km), is this a service item now?

Other:
- Detail and rectify cosmetic issues
- Apple Carplay

Also where can I get a proper list of the build card? (BA359804)

Thanks,
pd

Hi,
seems like a long list if you have just bought the thing Shocked

If it was from a dealer Question think I would have left it with them or get them to fix some of that list

or

if you bought pvt hope you got it for a good price

I have been doing a bit of reading up Rolling Eyes are you talking about the turbo drain mod, think that can be an 8 hour job if I am understanding correctly

Thumbs Up

Mine hasn’t had the mod and doesn’t smoke, but I do try and get the revs up once the engine is warm.

Easier said than done, as I can normally get to work at less than 2000rpm...

Run it a bit to see if you need the mod. It might have sat about a bit or been shunted around the car sales garage. Might smoke as it’s cleared out, but not once it’s had a clear.

And for same reason, I’d fully charge the battery, and then see. They don’t like it when the battery voltage drops....

It has been starting fine after the drive. To be fair it was not driven for a couple of weeks when I picked up and notices the voltage was down as the entertainment system etc wont work.

Hi,
as MJ says make sure battery in good health/charged is a good start, it takes a good long run to charge fully in use,
certainly using heated seats and stuff Laughing

if you have tow electrics its easy to use a smart battery charger (many use Cteks but I have a Lidl own brand Whistle ) to get the battery up to good state and take it from there

Thumbs Up

I wouldn't do anything yet other than detail it and install Apple CarPlay.

No point in changing stuff if it isn't broken.

<contradiction>Don't listen to forums, they would suggest everything is wrong. Same with the 5.0SC models, according to folks on forums they all need their timing chain guides doing. Its crazy. Just enjoy it and fix it if it breaks like any other car.

Agree with you. But looks like I have a starter motor issue like so many have experienced here.

With the prices at the moment, you got a bargain. It was discussed on AULRO a little which brought it to my attention, they said it had the locking rear diff which was a big plus for me. The only other two 4.4tdv8`s I know of for sale at the moment are 65 and 69k and they are Luxury spec ( Vogue SE?) not AB. Good luck with the Starter. 2007 TDV8 VSE

This car has all the options ticked inc ACC, locker like you mentioned and rear heated/cooled seats etc etc. Seller did give me further incentive to buy it, which should cover starter/alternator/battery etc. Cosmetically it need a bit of work
