Tope hose collapsed or by design ? TDV8 3.6

Hi,

Looking my engine over today and noticed one of the top hoses looked like it was collapsed .
I have circled it in the picture.
The ‘collapsed’ bit is underneath and i struggled to get a pic of it.

TIA

Undo your expansion cap and see if the hose returns to it's proper shape. If it does try a new cap and bleed all the air out.

Is there a specific bleed process?

Took off the expansion cap and nothing, no in rush of air, nor did the top hose open up.

What are other’s 3.6 TDV8 top hoses like?

If refitted by a lazy mechanic they can be twisted slightly, this has the effect of partially collapsing the hose, move the continuous pressure hose clamp up the hose so you can twist the hose and see if that helps, do it when cold and not under pressure and any coolant loss should be minimal... Are you referring to the protective sleeve over the hose not being a snug fit or are you seeing that the hose inside it is collapsing?

A Trap

There are marks on the hose, plastic fitting and clip. All need to be aligned correctly or you run into issues like rubbing and collapsing

UPDATE

Well the hose split a mile from home, got a low coolant warning but the temp didn’t rise.

Had it recovered ( i don’t take chances with things like this)

Cost 110 quid to replace - it split at the bottom of the hose.

All good now.
