Took the FBH out, stripped it down, clean out all the burnt carbon. Put it all back together but still the same - tries to start but stops after 2 mins. IID tool reports "Flameout"

Collected it from the very local bodyshop after some minor TLC. New bonnet lettering (supplied by Duckworths); new clips to properly seat a couple of bits of trim; and corroded mirror arms dipped, gently shot blasted and re-finished.

After: (sorry about the Lancashire weather, don’t know what it was doing on the sunny side of the Pennines)

I went out and px’d my 58 plate TDV8 for a MY12 4.4 - one owner from new, 60k and FLRSH.

I bought my old one in August to see what it was like and enjoyed it so much, I decided to commit to a newer, lower mileage one; I’m going to be doing more miles than I anticipated this year, so it seemed sensible.

Felt a bit sorry to see my old one go, it was decent and I had tried to get it right up to scratch, but Loving the 4.4 already, the car is really clean and tight - feels almost new in fact and I’m looking forward to my first long run to Norwich this week (work, but not complaining).

I have to thank everyone on here for all the advice during my first proper period of FF ownership and all the pointers when looking for a new one.

I’m just starting my list of things to do, first is get the rear windows done (have I bought the only vogue in the world without privacy glass?) and second, get a set of 20 inch wheels and some grabbers.

Cheers

Jools

Picked up the trailer today so bought that home and spent the afternoon rewiring it all. Previous people that done the wiring made it a complete headache with so much unnecessary wiring everywhere.

Still it's halfway there now. Just gotta wire up the main wiring loom into the junction box and complete the nearside marker lights then it's all done.

Lesson learned today though, petrol range rovers really ain't good for towing

First sunny day so BB came out of the garage for the first time since Xmas day so that I could try out my Xmas present.
Sloping drive, so now level enough for oil change when the weather warms up a bit.

I had a replacement gear selector sticker lying around, that I was just too lazy to fit; old one was still kind of surviving...
When the low range switch failed it was time to take the whole thing apart and get everything sorted.
The problem was that the pcb securing screws had come loose as their treads had disintegrated. This caused the pcb to drop when you flicked the switches.
As my foundry central console piece is otherwise immaculate, I used a simple fix rather than sourcing another one. Punched two holes and passed a properly bent bicycle wheel spoke to maintain pressure against the cover.

This is a borrowed picture I've edited to show the fix but I'm sure you get the gist of it

Fitted new reversing camera (old one kaput), not too difficult, yeah I know, I shouldn't need one, but at yard where horse is, there are four dogs running around, do not want to be removing flat dog from tyres, owners wouldn't be happy bunnies. Plus fitted LED reversing lamps, makes a big difference (2006 TD6) now done 93000, next job hopefully gearbox service, kit sitting in garage, just waiting for better weather as getting wimpy, as I get older.

*Technically* not today, but Sunday:

Gave it its first wash since I picked it up last week. All in all, I'm happy with the shape of the old boy - just has a couple of paintwork blemishes and the rear dog legs need doing this year at some point.

The day before I picked the car up the glove box latch decided to stop closing and after seeing that the replacement latch was over £80, I found a whole replacement glovebox on eBay for £20 and yesterday I decided to swap them over. What a faff!?!

On the plus side, it's now done and all sorted - I did also order a Bluetooth adaptor that is designed to replace the CD changer, however, it was for a BMW E39/39 etc and the fitment wasn't the same so it's back to the drawing board for that one.

Next bit done. In an attempt to combat the inability to stream music to the factory unit easily, I remembered I had one of those Amazon Echo Auto devices in a box somewhere from my old P38. So I bought an FM transmitter and wired it up to the Echo Auto device and plugged it in the cubby power outlet and now have full voice control Spotify, DAB, calling etc...

I'd still rather have a properly integrated CarPlay solution, but I'm in no rush to spend that kind of money when there are other more important parts of the car that could do with it more! '04 Adriatic Blue Td6 Vogue
