United States 2007 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Stornoway Grey

I've got a Gap Tool. I know there's a separate control module for the locking diff so you'd have to wire that and integrate it into the terrain response system before changing the coding/activate it. I'm in the research phase seeing what options I have and GraemeS is the first time I've come across someone saying they've done it. I've got a 4.4L petrol so it's got a 3.73 gear ratio on an open diff. It's highly modified for offroad use and on 35's so it needs to be regeared. Unfortunately nobody in the aftermarket offers any lower geared ring and pinion sets for an L322 but I see that the TD6 had 4.10 and had an optional locker for the 2006 MY. I'm trying to see if I can source one and have it shipped back to the US. and attempt a swap.

I know the locker is controlled automatically but I sure someone somewhere has found a way to manually activate it too. If I couldn't figure out how to integrate it in the the vehicle systems, I was going to wire it directly to my Switch-Pro. Fingers crossed, lol

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Santorini Black

Hi David, just wondered if you found the drive line 'slack' had improved/decreased with the new diffs?

The TDV8 and Petrol models use the same gearbox and transfer box ratios from what I remember, it's the diff's that provide the different gearing depending on the model so if you rebuild the rear diff with different ratios you'd need to do the front as well which I assume you'd be doing anyway.

I replaced my diffs primarily to a whine coming from somewhere in the drivetrain and then I just ended up doing a mini restoration on the car. I'd already put a brand new transfer box on it from Duckworths and a low mileage gearbox so wanted it to be "sorted". I didn't just replace the diffs on my car, I did every single bush and balljoint from front to rear along with all the wheel bearings at the same time.

When I'd finished the car was totally transformed and it was like driving a new car. Coupled with the Pirelli Noise Cancelling tyres it was lovely when finished.

I keep thinking of doing a similar "restoration" on my 5.0 but it feels fine to drive at the moment and I've now got an RRS to rebuild the engine on. Laughing 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather
