Does the Navtool work with the RSE? I'd quite like to be able to steam Youtube/BBC iPlayer etc. to the rear screens 2006 L322 Vogue SE 4.2

a few tips for the next installer

The power cable for the chinese android head units goes to the head unit under the glove box.

also you have to have the cd changer plugged in or a fibre optic loop back otherwise it breaks the loop.

after I did those 2 things, boom she sparked into life.

Hey mgrover I am planning to purchase the same head unit as you installed and was hoping that I could trouble you for some more info about it.

1. Can you confirm size and resolution of the display? Is it actually 12.3" since most other displays of this size are floating forward of the dash. I like this one more if it is true. Also is the resolution 1920X720 and not 1024X768 or something.

2. Is there anything that does not function and does the clock setting enable setting the vehicles clock. And is there a display of 4x4 info at all?

3. Can one change the background image or perhaps run a custom launcher rather than the provided look?

4. If I could trouble you for a few pictures of the system on different pages such as radio, google maps radio or playing an music file etc.

Hopefully that's not asking for too much but I would really appreciate it.

I can check that next time I am in the car. I know which ones your on about but this is 12.3 i think because it gets rid of the bezels.

Setting the clock works fine, both the dash clock and the analogue one.

There is no 4x4 info at all.

There are other "car" settings, like mpg, rpm, temp etc etc, and some settings like C/F your supposed to be able to change. but they don't change at all.

One thing that doesn't work is remapping the setting wheel controls. I want one button to be set as the BACK button, but havent made it work via their app.

Yes, I installed Nova launcher, not a fan of their launcher.

Are you sure you can set clock and date from android unit? All sellers says it is not possible.

Thanks for the info.

I am guessing the 4x4 info and other settings can still be accessed and adjusted via the dash gauge display anyhow. Hopefully that didn't change.

The steering wheel controls operate but can't be changed?
If so I have a similar setup in my jeep and it doesn't respond to the system software. I believe the module that enables the steering wheel controls may be hard coded . I always meant to see if there was a steering wheel control adapter which could be added to enable both short and long press programming of the buttons.

A few other things I thought I should ask:
How is the phone call clarity?
Does the head deck retain the trim pieces to the left and right of the display? or would one need to paint the sides of the adapter black? (in my case the trim is piano black)

Thanks mgrover!

PS just watched the video excellent....the head deck looks like a good bet to me.

Yes via the dash is fine, when you put it in offroad mode or whatever you can enable that mode where the dash changes to off road mode.

For me it's good, I installed the mic on the steering wheel, which btw is 2.5mm and the head unit port is 3.5mm so you need an adapter. Or am I remembering my BMW cause I did both very close together.

No it doesn't, I have a similar problem, they need to be painted piano black. I opted to just leave it tbf, laziness and all.

One thing I did notice is there is the amp hum. Now you can tweak the little device ground it comes with to try and negate that but you can still hear it, but once the car is started you never notice it tbh. Its actually a sport Sad

I see these android units on Aliepress with the AC module as well.
Has anyone installed one and if so, do most or all the stock functions work?

Thinking about upgrading my 2007 HSE

That is an interesting piece of kit; I've already added Android Auto/Carplay into my 2010 but this intrigues me!
