Front door external window metal trim replacement (How To ?)

Hi,
I have spoted rust on those exterior metal trims framing the window on the front door of my FFRR 2012 vogue.
here is the part I'm talking about

I have ordered one (80€... Censored) but I'd like to know if anyone has done it before ?
any advice welcome
Cheers

I’ll be interested in this, I didn’t know the part was available. I was looking at it today wondering how I’d paint it!

Let us know how you get on.

Hi,
I found them on Ebay a seller of OEM LR parts, but not cheap !
https://www.ebay.fr/itm/264857299513?ssPag...2749.l2649
and one in GB
https://www.ebay.fr/itm/333356683252?ssPag...2749.l2649

took me some time to get the right part number though Wink

I really don't know how to tackle tis one, for fear of breaking some thing inside the door, because it plunges in the front...

Still, if any one has clues, I'm a interested !

Cheers

Are you sure they are the correct pieces...

Both describe it as FRONT DOOR SEAL UPPER, that to me sounds like the seal at the top of the door, not the metal outside finisher which is what corrodes..?

Worth an email to Duckworths to confirm the part number is correct... Thumbs Up Pete

well I already received the parts and they are the right ones (left and right door)
I agree the name is misleading to say the least, but I ordered them with regards to their look and not the reference name, and it worked. I'll upload a picture of the part eventually.
Cheers

There,

Here are the photos of the mystery trim no one ever removed or replaced (so far...)!

with tags an' all

stripped bare !

the narrowest part plunges inside the door to the front.
So, what do you think ?

nope,

but there are metal fixtures of sorts all along the interior side of the trim. seem pretty sturdy and willing to give up a fight when tryiong to remove them...
here is a close up

I'm perplexed, it seem really sturdy for light piece of metal to stay in place ? "it needs some intelligence to undestand you may not have enough"

I sincerely hope I won't have to remove the window to fit them in...
I can't believe no one ever changed those mine have their paint all blown by rust.

I can't be the only one, now can I ? I'm going to need mental health support.... Rolling with laughter

Cheers Big Cry

Have you had a look under the door seal? On the parts blow up there seems to be some sort of fixing at the top rear of the window. Also, I wonder if the mirror needs to come off?

Firstly, I have not done this job, but I have had the door cards and door mirrors off completely, then you could peel back the insulation ( as in changing door pull cables ) and see where the part goes into the door, and see if there are any fastenings, not a real answer but hope this helps a bit. Access this way MAY make the job easier.
Door cards are quite easy to remove as you probably already know.

Thanks you all,

Merchy --> I've had prior bad experiences with door cards, on other makes and models, as clips blow and pieces gets torn,...
I'll check in the wiki for the proper procedure first.

JoolsB --> I'll look for that first fixing to remove, as it could be the lock for the whole thing to be easily removed (I wish).

I'll be back at you guys
Cheers

Below are two videos for removal and fitting of the door cards, quite easy especially if you have a car trim kit of tools ( Quite cheap and very handy ) Mine have been off several times, never had any clips break at all.
Hope this helps Thumbs Up
