It’s hard to believe that no one else on this form has removed any parts like this before, good luck 🤞

It's the exterior black frame at the top of the doors, the early ones like yours didn't rust as much as the later ones, my 2002 was mint, my 2012 was rusty...!!! Rolling Eyes Pete

Ok Pete thanks.
You have me curious about the trims….i just finished painting my Vogue and can’t recall any trims like that. I striped the doors down completely before prepping them too, must need better glasses. 🤣

I wonder if you could carefully mask it off & re-paint in situ?

I can see the problem….steering wheel on wrong side🤣🤣.
Nah just joking, yes you could easily rub down with 3m 600 grit w/d paper and mask up…put semi-gloss paint on as JCW said.

I know, but
- I'd need the exact same satin finish black...
- it wouldn't get rid of the rust under, would it?
- it would be bound to resurface.

and lastly ... not at all compliant with my OCD mindset Rolling Eyes I know !

As for the wheel side, it is indeed shocking on a british car, yet so much more practical to use on the right side of the road (pun intended) Rolling with laughter [/list] "it needs some intelligence to undestand you may not have enough"

IMHO waste of time trying to repaint that, the corrosion is coming from the back, around to the front, unless you took them off and got all the corrosion front and back off you are flogging a dead fatty, it will come back straight away... Thumbs Up

Some people put wind deflectors on which adhere to that part and cover up the unsightly corrosion... Whistle Pete
