Sill repair

Is their a sill repair kit out for the L322? or does one have to make these? (i thought I saw somewhere these where been made?)

I went to see a classic car restorer this afternoon and had a quote for the rear arches replaced and have the sills done at the same time as the rears of them are in a bad way now.

Trouble is, he's quotes 2k for each side, I know its very labour intensive job and I do know he'll do a good job with the amount of older cars in the workshop, including an Aston. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

That's an awful lot of money.

There's guys on the L322 Facebook groups who have had an amazing job done for a grand.

There's these that have been raised in other posts on the forum:

Hopefully they will make it a lot cheaper.

Thumbs Up

That a big quote but perhaps includes fabricating the repair panels? My lad had both rear arches, sills and a cracked rear bumper repaired using the ebay panels and paid £2100 inc vat so it may be worth getting quotes from several bodyshops first before committing

Or you could do what I did and watched eBay for any FullFats getting scrapped that still had decent sills.

I got both sides sills and arches cut from a donor car for around £250 delivered (can't remember but have it in another thread), then got a local car welder to cut mine out and replace with the decent ones. He charged me £150 total.

My 2004 TD6, before and after, nowhere near a grand, welded one sill myself, then had both arches cut out and fepairs welded in, and other sill fixed...

sills and jackpoints

I managed to get both rear jack points and sills done for £650! unfortunately the old boy who did them is retiring this month, had been quoted £1000 per side elsewhere. The rear quarter itself is available at quite a reasonable price from several retailers, shouldn't cost more than £80 each ex VAT.Al in all you should be looking at less than £1000 all in, but you have to shop around.
