Thanks for this description and photos. All very helpful. The diff/transfer box oil was described as in need of fresh oil at 90K. Can anyone confirm the periodicity at which the oils should be changed in these 3 gearboxes? Mine were done September 2022, and I read somewhere that the oil should be replaced every 2 years. Can this be right?

I doubt mine was ever changed at 110,000miles. It was still in good condition when i changed it and i suppose it also depends how the car is used. I do plan to do it every couple of years however. Not too difficult to do. RR HSE TDV8 4.4 2012

Thanks, Martin. Our L322s are ageing and deserve some TLC. The bi-annual oil changes seems sensible husbandry and, as you say, not that difficult to accomplish.

Great writeup - about to do mine. When you say the drain plug on the rear diff needs a 3/8” socket, do you mean square or hex? Is it def 3/8” and not 8mm as they are different? Thanks, Tim

Hi Tim,
Yes they are different, the 3/8 I used was a ratchet extension.

Thanks Martin - I’m sure I will! I take it you mean a 1/2” to 3/8” converter?
