Autophix 7310 Code Reader - the JLR Compatible Version.

I fancied getting a code reader. I know the GAP IID tool is the one most people recommend, but it’s quite expensive, and there are different versions like the G2 and G4 that don’t all work with every model. It also has to be linked to a specific chassis number, and in some cases, you need to buy additional licences. With all that in mind, I decided to see what else was out there. After doing a bit of research, I picked one of these up.

They do a few different ones, but the 7310 is specifically for JLR cars.

Obviously, it doesn’t offer everything the GAP tool can. For example, it can’t calibrate deployable side steps. But it does reset clutches (though I’ve not quite got my head around that part yet). It reads and clears all fault codes, lets you do the battery reset procedure, turns off service lights, and so on. From what I’ve seen so far, it seems to cover the functions most people are likely to need. And they don't need linking to a chassis number.

Heres what it does:

Autophix 7310

  • Full system diagnostics for Jaguar and Land Rover (engine, transmission, ABS, SRS, etc.)
  • Standard OBDII functions: read/clear codes, live data, freeze frame, I/M readiness, O2 test
  • Over 130 special functions, including:
    - DPF regeneration
    - ABS bleeding
    - Oil service reset
    - Auto gearbox reset
    - Electronic parking brake reset
    - Air suspension reset
    - TPMS reset
    - Battery reset

Has anyone here got one or used one?

I’ve tried it on my own car and my wife’s so far, and I’m toying with the idea of getting hold of a few on a deal to list on the site. They’d be under £100. Before I do that though, I’d like to see it working on a few different vehicles to make sure it does everything it’s supposed to. If anyone is in the Manchester, Stockport or Glossop areas and wants a car plugged in, a fault code read, a service light reset or anything like that, free of charge, just drop me a PM. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

Hi,
I had a look at this one as well - any more thoughts on it so far? I see the 2025 version is around £120 on Amazon, but the 2024 version is about £65-70 on Ali Express.

I have brought one of these to replace the reader I lost when my last range rover was stolen. The pins in the connector can bend if you are not careful. They work well but take a while to boot up. They offer more than basic readers but not as much as a gap tool.

It did what I wanted it to do, but I'd like to plug it into other cars to do different things to be on the safe side, or at least get some feedback as SMP has given before I stick my neck out and contact the manufacturer in Shenzhen to see what their MOQ is. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

Hi, quick question, would this show what is bringing up my occasional 'Service Required' message?

Oil dilution brings on service required--change your oil
Short journeys, increased interrupted Active Regenerations of DPF contribute to fuel diluting Engine Oil.
Possible to have 3or 4 oil changes per year depending on your driving style. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

It doesn’t do the same. From what I’ve just read:

The Autophix 7310 has over 130 functions and is designed specifically for all Jaguar and Land Rover models.

The Autel AP200 has just 19 service functions, and not all of them work reliably on JLR vehicles.

It’s not a like-for-like comparison. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

Very Interesting-Can you tell me what the 119 functions are?

The AP200 does a lot more than the 19 functions try looking at the technical service tab Rolling with laughter scroll down and read.

I’ve looked into this a bit more and I don’t think it’s fair to say the Autel AP200 “does the same” as the Autophix 7310.

Yes, the AP200 is Bluetooth and works across multiple brands, but the number of service functions it offers depends heavily on the specific vehicle. Autel say it supports “up to 19” special functions, though some listings claim 25 or more. It seems to vary, and from what I can gather, not all of them work reliably on JLR models. You also have to pay extra to unlock other brands.

The Autophix 7310, on the other hand, is a standalone unit made specifically for Jaguar and Land Rover. It offers 130+ JLR-specific functions straight out of the box, with no apps, no subscriptions, and no messing about. It’s a different proposition.

That said, if the AP200 suits your purpose, that’s fair enough. Just not really the same tool. People have a choice. It may be that it does what most people need it to. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

You're requesting Autophix functionality information, you can download the 104-page user manual here.

On your Autotel not working on some JLR vehicles, it's documented on Disco 3 here and here.

I'm not going to research more for you. Ner Ner 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black
