Centre vent trim removal

My centre vent surround - the cream coloured bit that goes round the vents and under the display unit is a bit grubby on the top where countless hands have rested on it whilst using the touch screen display.

I’d like to give it a thorough clean and take it off to do this. Is this a simple job ? The dash will be coming off soon and the display unit switched for dual view, but ideally I’d like to do it prior to that.

IIRC two little plastic clips down each vertical side, funnily enough they are the same spacing as the old radio removal tools, the U shaped one, which work well in removal, you have to move the little clips, which are moulded in and not separate, towards the centre line of the vent, when all four are moved you can pull it out, easier to do one side at a time, they are very fiddly so take a time, especially if you don't want to break them... Pete

Pete - are these tools for removing the trim piece - H shaped, or the centre vents ?

The vents, IIRC the trim comes with it but it is a few years since I've done it on a 322

PowerfulUK videos on you tube are pretty good, they do gloss over some PITA bit's, the worst being the centre console hinged lid...!! Pete

I've just checked with a friend and he's advised that the top dash panel and stereo needs to come out as the stereo sits on top of the trim piece. Not difficult but time consuming! 2011 L322 Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8 Sumatra Black. Ivory Interior.

As I said it's been a long time since I've done it but I don't think you have to take the radio out to remove the air vent....

Hi - sorry, shouldn't have been clearer. Stereo removal is required for the H trim piece, not the vent. 2011 L322 Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8 Sumatra Black. Ivory Interior.
