Supercharged Alternator Snapped Off – Need Help with Visco

Hi all,

Never seen anything like this before – the alternator mounting points on my 2015 Supercharged have completely failed.

I don’t drive the car hard, and it happened unexpectedly. I had just started the engine and began to drive off when I heard a loud clunk. On inspection, I discovered the alternator had snapped off its mounts.

I’ve done some research but haven’t come across any similar cases. I’m now in the process of removing the alternator, but I’m stuck on the viscous fan. I’ve hit the spanner over 100 times trying to loosen it, soaked it with WD-40 overnight, and still no movement.

From what I’ve read, it should loosen anticlockwise, like a standard nut – but if that’s wrong, please correct me. Any advice or tips on removing the fan would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Paul
