Yes, I have researched all the threads, I love my 2011 L322 5.0sc but the noise is eating me from the inside.. 112k miles.The noise is noticeable at idle/ going through a drive thru.

So far I have replaced..

Timing chain guides and all ancillary equipment.

Supercharger coupler.

High pressure fuel pumps and lifters.

It definitely isn’t a/c related.

How loud would a bad injector be? I can’t find any video/sound clips.The motor is strong and pulls hard no codes. Any of my esteemed fellow owners have any unique experience in this? I greatly appreciate your input.

Probably a silly question but did you change the chain...??

Faulty injectors can be pretty noisy....

Needs some diagnostics with a decent tool....  Pete

Thanks for the quick reply, the chains were replaced too. I’m at my wits end!

A good diagnostics and you should be able to tell if the injectors are poorly using live values...

You need a mechanic who knows his way around the engine...

Land Rover or Jaguar will do, the engine is a Ford unit....  Pete

The area of the most tapping is on the underside of car ( driver’s side )

Did you make sure to tension the chain /remove slack on the non-tensioned side before tightening cam bolts?

It really does sound like a loose end timing chain (which coincidentally is on the bottom area near the crankshaft pulley)

As Fiiz said, that sounds like tensioners are not doing their job properly, I have my 5.0 rebuilt and there was a problem with some tensioners, i would double check as that still sounds like you have chain slaps etc

Thanks for the input. Any way of checking besides having it done over again? There are no codes being thrown, car runs like a champ. Maybe the cure is to keep windows up and not go through any drive thru establishments…

The chains tensioners etc were done at the dealership. I doubt it it was a case of a misguided install. My Indy says live with the noise, it’s nothing to worry about, but that doesn’t work for me. Just trying to find peace…
