TV Upgrade

Hi All,

I know this has been talked about a lot but I really want to do this now but need more info. I have a 543 Vogue with nab screen and analogue TV.

Like the look of this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/In-Car-Digital-F...0700894248 as posted by Reformed but want to know if I will need anything more to be able to plug into the Aux somehow. I don;t currently have DVD player fitted.

I do have the intravee II for iPod (and no longer have CD).

Where Can I plug this device into so I can switch to Aux and then use the free view box.? Will I need anything else to get this to work (other than arial)

Thanks guys..

Ash Ash

Assuming yours is not a touch screen, all you would need is one like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/In-Car-Digital-F...27be90f028

An uprated booster aerial, as you mentioned and something like this for your AV input to plug the freeview output into: (I just select the AV channel then turn the Freeview on)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-3-5-X5-Range...5d30669f65

The AV input lead just plugs into your tuner in the boot.

Hope that makes some sense. Reformed

Ash's link is not right, it's been copied from somewhere else with the dots (...) in the middle of it, which breaks it. Now fixed.

For people with touchscreens is there not an option to buy an aftermarket type thing that plugs into where the existing tv input goes?

Thanks Martin.

And Reformed - thanks - it was the additional loom that was missing from my setup. Cool. All ordered and hopefully fitted this weekend..! Ash

I think if you have a touchscreen you can either buy the av input device for the M.O.S.T system which is not that cheap (as I found from Scarey) or buy the genuine hybrid tv tuner, which again is not that cheap, altho shopping about you may be able to find something. Reformed

Ahwell Sad

Im thinking more along the lines of the car PC route now but as i dont have screens in the rear headrests, im evening putting that idea on the shelf and just saving to get 2 ipads for the rear and hanging them over the seats for the kids(the mrs has an iPhone so thats 1 passenger sorted!) as when we start with the caravanning treks the drives will be quite long at 60mph on the mways and 50mph on most single carrigeways Sad

Reformed - Help required if you don't mind...

This is what I bought...

DVB Tuner (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/In-Car-Digital-F...3067932832)

Along with this for the lead (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-3-5-X5-Range...660wt_1180)

I connected it all up and got power to the DVB box. Plugged the additional lead (above) into the tuner (white plug) and then the original lead into the newly added lead as per the instructions. Switched to AV channel on tv (the one before channel1) but nothing..?

Did you have to do anything else to get yours to work. I ordered th lead as per your link and it does say for RR.??

Confused (and fed up now) Big Cry Ash

Thats the same freeview unit as I have.

All I do is select the AV channel then turn it on with the remote.

You should then get the menu screen where you perform a scan and it will find all the channels.

Have you wired up the booster aerial. The standard aerial didnt pick up anything.

The AV input lead is the same as my original one (allthough I have now changed it for the same but with the added rear camera input) Reformed

Yep - I don't even get the menu on the screen - just a black screen saying mute at the bottom when I switch it to AV..!

I take it the leads go to AV in and Audio in rather than out (as that would be to feed another screen I suspect).? Even so I tried both anyway.

Anything else I should do/try..?

If this is fitted inline with the main tv lead, would it really go to the AV channel.?

Thanks Ash

As long as the yellow AV ouput from the Freeview box is connected to the video in on the AV lead you should see something.

I did add a splitter that combined the 2 left and right audio channels from the freeview into the one audio input but that wont stop you seeing something on the screen. Reformed
