Cannot find source of battery drain

Have now carried out 4 "fuse-pulling" tests trying to find the source of a battery drain, but to no avail Sad

My meter reads a drain of .200mA when the RR is "asleep", which is too high, but I cannot for the life of me find a fuse (or fuses) which, when pulled, reduces the drain to an acceptable level (c.030mA).

I've checked all the fuses in the glove compartment and the ones in the boot area. Are there any others I don't know about? I've tried disconnecting the Sat Nav and the Bluetooth as well, but that has made no difference (the Sat Nav is shutting down ok after 2 minutes, so no problems there).

I thought I had checked the alternator too but I'm not 100% sure I had the meter set up correctly. Should the meter setting be the same as when I am checking the fuses?

Does anyone have ANY suggestions because constantly having to charge the battery is driving me insane!!! Banging Head Banging Head

if you have a look at the OBD you should see some contacts..when the flap is open some ecu's are still awake and this can cause a battery drain... ... - .- -.

Why not do what I have (courtesy of dan_1985_uk) and put a small back up battery in the rear Driver's side boot compartment where the removable tow hitch goes.

A good idea but it would be great if I could identify the source of the problem. The battery is back on charge so I'll check the voltage again tomorrow and see if it's still draining. Fingers crossed! Cheers

Well, some good news. The reading is now down to 0.140mA from 0.200mA, so closing the OBD flap seems to have helped. But there is still something drawing at least 0.1A and I need to find it!

One thing I did notice in a previous test, when pulling the CD Changer fuse (no. 40) the reading dropped .030mA. That seems an awful lot, especially as I don't even have a CD changer fitted!! I've got an Intravee connected to the CD Changer circuit and I unplugged it before running the test anyway. Any clues on that anomaly anyone? Cheers

When you say you have pulled all the fuses have you pulled the 50A Maxi fuses on each fuse board as well?

You need to test down thro the alternator.
The easiest and safest way is as follows
Disconnect battery -ve terminal.
Wait 20min for car to go to sleep
Set multimeter to 1A scale
Touch one multimeter lead to -ve battery terminal
Touch the other multimeter lead to the end of the -ve battery cable you took off the battery -ve terminal
You should get a reading of 0 Thumbs Up
