Upper Tailgate Replacement

Hi Guys,

I have a new upper tailgate for my ff rr 06 vogue se and I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience or can point me to a tutorial on how to replace the whole upper tailgate.

The 2 wiring looms will cause the biggest problem I suspect.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply, I seen this too and funnily enough the exact same situation. I will try and document my removal and replacement so I can share things learned with other members.

I swapped ours over a couple of months ago. The biggest issue is the wiring as it's a single piece loom with the rest of the car.
The loom runs down the RHS of the tailgate underneath the glass, and is clipped under there too. I was shown how to remove by the guy I bought the tailgate off. there's a small gap between the glass and the frame, and you literally pull the wiring through this gap from bottom to top, breaking the clips as you go. It's tight and I damaged the insulation on a couple of wires, so inspect and repair.

I fed the new loom back in the same way, squashing everything as flat as possible and working each wire through. Not easy, but possible. You end up with no clips in there, but I used a fabric loom tape and haven't heard any rattles from that area so all good.

Hi Guys,

Followed the advice from ndg and right on the money the hardest part being the wiring loom that runs down the right hand side of the tailgate. it was quite straight forward once all the trim was removed.

Thanks for the support and info. was raining so no photos.
