Jump starting

Ff refused to start this morning in heavy frost !!
Tried battery pack and jump starting, nothing, all I'm getting is clicking noise when I press start button.
Is it starter motor ?
Battery is less than year old

Maybe not enough power through the booster pack ?

Could be a completely dead battery - that would be the first check for me - take it into Halfords or Euro Car Parts or probably most other auto factors & they will test it for you

Or if you're a member of a recovery service, just call them Thumbs Up

Had the same issue a few weeks back. Suspect the battery is shot. The breakdown guy attached the booster pack for about 15/20 minutes before trying to start the engine and it fired up first time.

Good luck getting it going Thumbs Up SDV8 AB MY 2019

Think it is the battery.
Does anyone have any experience of the Odessey batteries that are advertised in the Land Rover mags?

Will it be worth fitting one ?

Thanks for wise words chaps.
Just fitted fresh battery, and she fired up first go Shocked
I've noticed that both positive and negative clamps don't seem to tighten up as much as I'd like !!
And the battery isn't held that secure in its tray !!
I'm sure that over time this has an adverse effect on its performance ?
And who decided that you need to be a gynecholigist get a battery in that space Embarassed
This is the third battery I've had fitted in 12 months, so something is amiss Shocked

The battery should fit well & be completely free of movement.

I've not heard of any issues with the clamps not being tight enough before.

There's a Wiki guide on how to change the battery - if you put the bonnet into access mode it makes life a lot easier Thumbs Up

They should last closer to 5 years - so it does indicate that you have some other issue somewhere - make sure you buy one with a warranty & keep the receipt. I had a 3 year old one fail (with 5 year warranty) and Euro Parts exchanged it without question.

Careful with a jump. If your battery is totally dead, you'll put a lot of strain on the alternator once it starts up. If the situation allows, charge up the battery first, or replace. Good luck.

I've got a suspicion that the alternator is the problem
