Yes a bit disappointing and a pain...

I think the thinner key blade is for the Sport models.

Lets hope we can find the thicker blank.

Okay everyone,

got the time to look at the fobs that via the previous link I purchased and have supplied to others at the premise this is a mod which will requre some modding.

I have taken a photo of a blank original stye key and the disassembled folding fob key blade removed.

here you can see the original blade will require some machining to retro fit your donnor key electronics and blade into the fob, or you can follow the other link in the preceding thread pages and get another carcase with a B type blade from the USA. this is the retrofitters choice of way forward.

anyone with some paticence should manage to mod their own key to work, just take your time!

Are all the keys your sending out the same? Could they not be sent back and exchanged for fat ones? [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

they are all the same, as the link in this thread showed, ordered as they were in the link, and as I advised; cost more to return that to buy another unit, seller has removed the option of choice of blade type, hence the retro fit of your blade or purchase from US of carcase with fatter blade with nothing in the case.

I only ordered the item as per the thread, for modding up to get flick fob made from combination of it and my original key.

as the Thread dictates this is a owners own retro project, and requires some level of modeling skills.

hi robbo,
who did you order from...
http://www.autokeytransponder.com/Contactus.php
or
http://www.autokeys.us/page.php?page=about

they both show the fat key in there listings and i have dealt with them both, no after customer service at all, tey should of come with the fat style key blank, i am sure they know what they have done but returning them is not a option as it cost more the the key its self, they know this and you did mention it in one of the previous posts, ok all, i will sort this out for you, dont dismantle your old key to remove the blade, you are limited to the length and the old style blade is just long enough, any shorter and the fob will touch the trim when its put in the ignition, land rover uses both style blades the fat ones like you all need was on the early cars, how many blanks do we need, i pay £7 for each blank but some times can get the whole case for £8.50, so any one who need the blanks for the remotes robbo supplied please PM me..

hi, ok quick update, it looks like the blanks are coming in at around a £5 each, with regards to using the key from the other case i could not say, it could be a complete different fixing or length, to long and it will not close and to short and the remote will rub on the ignition.

HI Guys,

I have supplied these as part of a services that I was ordering and got more than just my one to help anyone else whom wanted to try this mod,

I don't expect to get a dispute via paypal for a refund when this is bought on description from the thread and i have the same issues to fix to even get the conversion to work myself.

I would expect an PM request for a refund not a direct dispute when this is an owners choice to try and get this to work, I stated no liability for the parts once arrived, so don't attack the supplier for a mod.

thanks Rob Yawn Current vehicles

Hi Daveo,

it was Autokeytransponder I ordered the keys from, I amazingly have had a reply, but we shall see if they come up with the replacement blades to allow the items to be supplied to the buyers, but as you say they are not the most helpful bunch.

waiting a repsonse to my follow up email Current vehicles

Rob
Personally I'm a bit gutted that these keys aren't going to work out the box like some of the others have been able to do, but at the same time we have them cheaper due to your efforts so thank you and as Dave has already said he can get the correct blade for £5 so still cheaper than buying direct ourselfs. I would have hoped anyone with a problem could have PM'd you to be an adult about it but such is life.
Thanks again and look forward to getting mine. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Dave
Do you need to order all the blades at once to get them for £5 or can you order individual ones? Just on the off chance Rob gets new blades sent out from the supplier. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]
