What a BAD day!

Well today should be Friday the 13th! Started very bad being in the out of hours with the wife who has a bad water infection. Then woke up at 5:30 for work, drive like normal then the FFRR konks out. Censored , eventually restart and drive off but steering heavy. Alternator belt is toast! Call green flag and head into work. 1h later come out to meet green flag to find a mass of fire crews, ambulances, and police round my car. While parked up with side hazards on some clown on a bike has ridden into the back of the FF and gone through the rear window and dented both the upper and lower tailgate. Cyclist went to hospital with cuts and concussion. Got the car recovered home to start the insurance hell! My NCD is looking in jeopardy as the cyclist hit me even though the policy covered me for being hit by uninsured drivers. Doesn't count as its a cyclist, and the protected NCD hasn't been added for some reason as I went through comparethemarket! So all in all I'm we'll Censored CensoredCensoredCensored [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Bloody hell Rob what bad luck
More bad news If I am correct as you are the driver of the car involved you might be billed by the emergency services for attending so get all the details of the cyclist as you may need to recover your costs.
( It happened to my brother when someone ran across the road into his car)

Sorry to add to the bad news Rolling Eyes Mine was a blue one! Smile

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Supercharged Supercharged Java Black

As a cyclist (mountain and road) I keep my bike insured, this gives me personal injury as well as 3rd party liability including property up to £10mil. Unfortunately this costs me nearly 10% of my bikes "as new" value per year (how many of us would drive a FFRR if the insurance was 6k+?). If they brought the cost down to that equiv of car insurance I'd bet more cyclists would be insured. As for managing to stick himself through the rear window of a parked car, Darwins theory should mean they will be dead soon enough.

Jeez.. From bad to worse.. I think anyone that uses the road should have insurance. I had a friend that hit a jogger once. He came running around a corner on a tight bend and straight into my friends motorbike. My friend was treated like a criminal and was sued by the jogger. Friend won in the end, but it was months of hell.
The insurance company will know who the cyclist is, so should recover every penny from them to repair your car.. Previously..

Cyclist (and FF owner) and insured through uk cycling. Covers most things like bike and third party. Agree that anyone using the road should be insured "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

Quick update. Window has been fixed by national windscreens and very pleased with their service. Place I got my alternator (less than a month old) have replaced the alternator and given me a full refund so up £240. Insurance will peruse be11end on the bike for any money so we will have to see what happens. Be11end is still in hospital but ok.

Has anyone had experiance of this before? Ie trying to claim off a third party with no insurance. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]
