Climate Control Manual select not working

I tried to use the manual select from the touch screen last week and it did not work.

The car was in for a service on Tuesday this week and I mentioned the problem along with the lack of auto lights and auto wipers, prior to the car going in.

Got a call to say they would need it for two days as the auto problems were in the depth of the dash, no problem for me but got a call on Wednesday to say auto problems fixed, poor connection, but the climate control was OK it only works on timer or remote.

I suggested they read the handbook, clearly states you can manually select, so they did and came back to me to say I was correct but they would need more time to investigate so sent the car back as it is going in again for an upholstery repair and they will fix it then.

They also said another customer came in with the same problem.

It was not grayed out, in fact when pressed it registered the press started the heater fans and then stopped so suggests fuses are OK.

Car is going back in so they can look at it and they will have to fix the audio as well as when I used the car on Saturday the radio only worked for about 5 minutes then nothing, no CD no voice on sat nav, came back after being switched off but then gave up again.
