Passenger Door Locked shut

Quite annoyed at myself for letting it get this far. I came to fix this problem yesterday and now its even worse Mad

For a week or so the passenger front door WOULD intermittently open with the central locking, a couple of locks and unlocks generally sorted it. Then For a couple of weeks the passenger door hasn't opened at all when you press the key fob, but has opened when you pulled the interior handle. Figured it would just be a linkage issue, electrical connection or something that would be immediately obvious with the door card off.

Unfortunately when i came to do this yesterday the situation has worsened. I now cant open the door at all using the interior handle. Obviously this means I cant get the door card off to see whats going on. Anyone got any suggestions?

I've read a few posts and there is talk of butchering door cards, cutting holes in doors etc. I saw one post about squirting WD40 down the door nipple to reduce the friction on the mechanism. This is going to be my first port of call over the weekend.

you could try a battery disconnect or change the key fob just in case its an electrical problem.. ... - .- -.

I don't think the key fob is at fault. It unlocks all the other doors upon the second press of the unlock button. I think if there is an electrical issue its liable to be inside the passenger door, or isolated to the wiring pertaining to that doors central locking.

I would certainly try the WD 40 first and just be patient, it can take a while to work itself in.
You need a good battery, fully charged. Thumbs Up

Had the same happen to mine. Got it open by banging the outside of the door with my hand around the handle while locking and unlocking it with the key fob. '04 td6 se

WD40 has done nothing yet. I'll try the banging approach later on. I'm wondering if i can remove the screws and partially prise off the door car to get some access to the lock, even if its only to get a WD40 straw closer to where it needs to be. Looking at the drivers door i'm thinking this is a complete no go with the door locked.

Other option is to take it to a specialist, however if they have no cunning tricks and are just going to butcher the door card i'll do it myself.

make sure your battery is good and fully charged, this made a big difference on one of mine - insufficient kick in the actuator to force the button up.

also play with the dash mounted unlock switch - this also worked when the button didn't. Exhaust all options prior to ripping your door card off Thumbs Up

you will be surprised how much difference a crap battery makes to this vehicle Sad 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Around the pop up button on the door is a black circular plastic trim.
If you gently prise this trim off you should be able to get hold of the top of the pop up button with a pair of thin nosed pliers.
If you can, pull the button up and see what happens. Thumbs Up
Don't forget a new door card is about £600+. Shocked

Tried it with the engine running. Revved the car quite high so alternator would be putting out good voltage and operated the dash button repeatedly. No luck Sad

nicedayforit, your idea worked a treat thanks very much mate.

pulled on the door nipple and it came out but went back in again. pulling on it while working the interior door handle and it unlocked the door properly Smile

Useful to know, seems to be a common problem.

Definitely seems to be a common problem. Admittedly those smarter than me rectify it before it gets this bad :]

I'll put some pictures up of the proper fix when I get chance to take the door card off.
