noise dampening

is there anyway to reduce the noise from the td6 while accelerating
its quite a racket
sound dead proofing of sum sort
i heard the tdv8 has extra insulation in the engine bay

It's also a much quieter engine.

Try turning the stereo up.

the tractor sounding engine of the td6 is indeed noisy..you could stick extra sound deadening in the engine compartment but i dont think it would make much difference..

the tdv8 is a different engine and is quieter.. ... - .- -.

I don't. It's a racket - not a nice noise at all.

2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Rimini Red

The TD6 has an active engine mount to try to counteract some of the noise , I don't think the TDV8 even bothers.
The last of the TD6's are a little better but its hard to see what an individual could do , and why is the same engine so much quieter in the soccer mum X5 ? 2008 MY Supercharged

Fit some offroad tyres and your problem with engine noise will go away instantly ... you'll be spending your days escaping the swarm of bees :lol:

I must have had one of the last TD6 engines in my SE. I always thought of it as really quite quiet inside the cabin. Absolutely no tractor noises at all. Did the later SE's have more sound insulation? Previously..

^ I agree.
Maybe on first start up until it's warm their is a little diesel clatter (if that) but afterwards sounds fine, reminds me off a BMW petrol 6 cylinder engine.

I'd be sitting in another TD6 to compare engine noise, maybe some sound proofing is missing?

2003 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Monte Carlo Blue

I'm fitting a full Dynamat sound deadening kit in late Jan so you can wait and I'll tell you if it works.
It's not cheap but hopefully will make a huge difference.
Also engine oil and gearbox oil change might help quieten your beast
