Interior courtesy lights won't turn off!

I had the interior roof lining replaced in the car. When the car came back, the courtesy lights started to play up. When I lock the doors with the remote, the lights start to dim but immediately powers back on! Usually the lights will just fade away.

I asked the fella that did my roof lining what could be the problem? He said the front courtesy lights are simply removed with a clip and there is no way that he couldn't have reassembled it wrong. "cos the clips only clip in one direction.Similarly with the Courtesy lights in the centre of the car, the detachment and subsequent reinstall was pretty straight forward job too!

Now I cannot turn off the interior lights at all This will run the battery to the ground empty!

Any ideas for a solution?

I don't know if this is a solution to your problem but the first thing I would do is disconnect the battery for 20 minutes then reconnect it and see what happens.
You might be lucky.
After reconnecting the battery don't forget to start the engine and turn the steering wheel fully lock to lock to reset the steering sensor.

I understand that holding the switch in turns them off, and again for manual on.

Not tried it myself.

Might help whilst you get the problem fixed.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I think what he had done is put your rear light in the front & visa versa... Although both interior lights appear to be identical they are NOT sir... The circuit boards have different hardware/software so behave differently if accidentally plugged back in the wrong way around...

Ill keep my fingers crossed for you Thumbs Up Whistle Thumbs Up

LR should have made different plugs for the front and rear but the plugs are identical - just different colour.

If it weren't for this forum and the great contributors who help resolve many of the problems, I wouldn't contemplate running a RR out of manufacturers warranty Bow down Thumbs Up Bow down Thumbs Up Bow down Thumbs Up
