2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Rimini Red

Lumpy at 1600-1800rpms TDV8 -Sorted

Folks,

Stopped off at shops then jumped back in car. After about 10 secs 'Engine Management Fault' on info centre. No EML light. No faults recorded on engine (IIDTool) except P132E-21 (unknown). Clearing faults makes no difference.

Seems very lump/juddery at between 16-1800 rpms on load. With a kind of asthmatic cough cough cough at the same time.

No other problems with engine before, 58K miles. I had just filled with diesel - it was diesel I put in.

Any readings I can take with the IID to see if this is EGR related or Turbo or split hose?

Mike, thanks, one is at 2500rpm other at idle so about 740rpm.

Do they look okay?

Both boost actuators have shut down. With the live data displayed, switch the engine off, and restart after a few seconds. The actuators should move through their range of travel.

Graphs may help here, rather than digital values

Both actuators appear to be working that time. I have a TDV8 with me just now, ill graph it in a bit

EDIT: May also be worth checking the injectors comps too, just to rule out a misfire

Both actuators should follow each other, and change with engine revs/MAP values. After start up and switch off, they should both go through a full cycle, so should see them both move

Looks like mine (apart from mine cycle open and closed about 5 times after I switch the ignition off) Mike, thanks for running that.

Maybe we should delete the images with the VINs on.....

Mine sometimes had similar symptoms but I would describe it more as it was trying to hunt for gears, would bounce up and down between 16-1800 lethargically, and sometimes cough if you put your foot down. Gearbox oil change seems to have sorted that out nicely.

May be completely different but might be useful info? Ed

Will check that as well.

The fault seemed to 'clear' itself. Drove fine this morning.

Just waiting for it to come back.....

After being fine yesterday and this morning. After work got the engine management faul in info centre.

No codes seen with IDTool.

Seems Boost Pressure Actuator is stuck at 11% one side and 98% the other through all Rev ranges. (edit does that mean that gave just shut down as a precautionary measure?)

The EGR valves were still functioning and going thru the full range of movements.

Is this the start of turbo going duff or could it be the pipe work?

I believe the one at 11% is stuck.

With the live data recording, start the car and watch the 2 traces. If the fault is present, one will move and one won't. Then both will settle, and stop moving

Had exactly the same.with an RRS yesterday
