Danny bought his with it fitted, there are plenty of 12v wires in the boot, just get a meter on them...

No reason you can't use the one that runs the radio which will run the new head unit...

Or if you want a fresh 12v then there is the fuse box the other side of the boot.... Pete

Dannyh,

Did you run a 12v line right through to battery for the subwoofer amp, then connect to the remote/antennae wire from unit to switch it on? Or did you pick up a live in trunk for sub amp?

Thx

Hi mate, as Pete says the car came with it all fitted and I've not had time to have a dig around to see how it's been installed.

But yeah the remote wire should turn the amp on and off for you. Dan

Thanks guys,

Unit arrived today, Saturday from payment on Tuesday.

Paid £345 for unit, extension cable and tv box

Took an hour to strip out head unit with dash etc and another couple to get new unit wired into boot

I've used a screen mount fm aerial (very discreet at bottom of side rear) as my radio reception before was pants so just avoiding factory aerials. I've also got a reverse camera off fleabay

Tested it all out, tv great, radio great, dvd great, Bluetooth music great, rear camera cool.

Sound is not at all bad. Still think it needs a sub so I'm going to do that later

Tomorrow is hide the wires day, ive got lots of trim out already but might take seat as Pete suggests etc in the morning. I have got the unit in, cutting the holder which so far was biggest pain but only because my hack saw snapped twice.

I need to buy a few rca cables for sub and future proofing. I'm now planning on a ps2 for young kids in glove box too

Oh and video out works well to my existing dvds in rear. They are those kind mounted on headrests not factory so will need to box clever with hiding wires. But dvd and tv in back works well, still allowing me to have sat nav up front

Pete, got to say you are a legend. Your step by step is spot on!!

Lastly, and don't yell at me....since trim is off I starting painting the dull, scratched cherry with gloss black....

Well that was a long day!

Seat out, carpet up all ok. My haste though caused me to break the catch fir the glove box

So wasted hours trying to repair it. Which I did thankfully

All wired up, unit in, looks cool

Only niggle is tv reception. I stuck antennae under dash but it might need lifting out as picture breaking up, so I've left vent caps off so I can lift dash top if need be after a day or so.

Already sold my dsp amp so unit only cost me £100 now and still gave sat mav and head unit to sell

Nice work pal, sounds like you're happy and it's always nice when you can improve something and sell the old stuff for more than the upgrade has cost.
For info on mine they've installed an amp being the panel in the passenger side of the boot space and made a small sub box with I'm guessing a10 inch sub that fits in the driver's side panel in the boot, very tidy and doesn't get in the way. Will do you a photo later if you like. Dan

Well done Cheet22 sounds like we had the same sort of weekend.

Been listening to music through a blue tooth phone device so stopped being a pussy took Pete's info and just got mine finished, I left head in glove box and old sat nav and TV amp in place as this still leaves the clock working and the other computer features correct on the speedo info bars, also left the front speaker working as well, I do like the digital volt meter though so may swap the clock anyway.

I spent the last month or so searching to find the best way to do it and Pete has come up trumps so a big thanks to him and the time it took to get all that info together and uploaded, brilliant.

My system was from Koolerton and cost £299 without TV, it came with the long lead which worked fine and the sound is good enough although the sub woofer can be wired in looking at the diagram on the new head unit so might do that.

Have to say it makes the dash look modern and its great having all the mod cons.

Just gotta sell my Amp and radio unit to help pay for it all.

Trying to buy a new drivers seat but matching the colour is a pain, ivory, beige and parchment all look the same to me cant find the colour id anywhere its supposed to be, any ideas !!!

Forgot to say, I left my long lead plugged into the disconnected radio lead and then just cut out the wires I needed for the speakers.

Hi there - yeah, so glad I did it now. It looks so cool. I painted my wood trims gloss black - im not gonna say the best job I ever did as I rushed to get stuff back together, but they look pretty smart. I prefer the car now - now only has navy blue, cream, grey and black! Man these cars have so many colours!

Music played from USB sounds more punchy than radio, but I still want the sub in the boot. Looking for a plug and play one that fits where the old kit/subwoofer was if I can, as I don't want to lose any boot space.

The TV signal is slightly annoying, but Ive ordered an amplified one from easyrising, so hopefully it might be better. I guess moving cars are never gonna be great for TV!

Re seat - I had same dilemma - my car is Adriatic Blue but nowhere tells me interior colour. I took a punt at parchment and voila, I was right. Its parchment with navy trim and navy carpets/dash top.

My drivers seat was in a rough way, really badly worn, but I bought the £30 bottle of parchment dye off ebay and man, what a result. Seriously looks like new. I went over passenger seat and tops of door cards too - great stuff. My seat was really rough, almost no colour left on bolster, so unless its badly ripped, maybe think about a dye?

Guess im going off topic now on this thread...sorry.

You lot seem to have been busy whilst I've been having a new hip, glad a few more have done the change...

If you want to do the leather properly then you need to use an adhesion promoter first, then add Cross Linker X to the leather colour and finally a leather finish, which you can choose the shine of.. This will then be the same process as used originally and last the same length of time...

Best place I found to get it all is here..
