Window film on rear side windows

G,day day, has anyone noticed this? On my 2003L322 i just had the rear hatch window replaced, when i picked up the car the rear windows seemed to be more clear than i remembered, anyway i gave the ff a good wash and polish and now looking at the rear side windows there seems to definately be a clear film over the inside of the window. Thinking that this may be normal with the aerial wires etc on the window, but on closer examination whoever applied the film did a shoddy job with ripples near the edges and even a couple of hairs trapped under the film. I never noticed it before but now to me it is like the proverbial dogs ball. What i need to know is if i decided to have the rear windows tinted would this film have to be removed??? Shocked Big Cry

No comments? So ls that clear film normal and used to apply the antenna? I thought they would have been inside the glass.

You can normally feel the aerial wires on the "inside" face of the glass. They are not embedded in the glass.
I also need to get the "tint" removed from the tailgate glass and both rear quarter windows as the film has become damaged over the years before I bought the RR.
Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the existing (presumably factory) fitted tint ?
Cheers

The factory tint isn't a film. The actual glass is tinted afaik, the way to check is if you can obviously see the heated screen elements from the outside of the car then it is an aftermarket tint. If you can't see them then it is factory.

My new one with factory tints

Old one with aftermarket tints.

Note how you can see the elements in the old one but can't on the new one. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

it might be to protect the glass (and radio aerials) from being scratched by dogs in the back or something.

You can also get clear film that you stick on glass, which is supposed to make it more difficult to shatter.

Thanks northernmonkeyjones
Based on that I've got aftermarket film, and so will look to get the old damaged ones removed and replaced.
Mine is a Dec 2002 RR, any idea when proper tinted windows were fitted ? and how easy it is to remove damaged film ?
