Hi All,

Had my first long Journey in the Dark last night up the M6. To say a lot of people where less than impressed is an understatement!

As I passed people I can see the adjusting the mirrors, Even a Disco coming toward me flashed assuming I had full beam on. Looking at the line of the headlight as I pass a Van the top of the beam seems to sit Just below the Drivers window.

Obviously if your in a Van thats fine but in anything lower your getting a whole FFRR HID in the eye!! The car has passed an MOT so assume the level is fine for front on but the beam pointing to the left form the drivers side I think seems to be high.

Has anyone else had this experience?

The two options you have are to A, have them adjusted VERY low! Or B, flick the adjusters inside to european use... This will flatten the beam pattern and stop you dazzling anything to your left side sir

plastic bulb cover thingy off then a lever next to the square xenon bulb unit sir ... Plenty of vids on youtube i would guess?

Tourist Lever
On all headlamp variants a tourist lever mechanism is located on the side of the projector module. This mechanism moves a flap to blank off a portion of the beam spread to enable the vehicle to be driven in opposite drive hand markets without applying blanking decals to the headlamp lens. The position of the tourist lever varies between headlamp variants and drive hand markets. The following lists detail the lever location and positions for home and opposite drive hand markets.

Halogen Headlamps
UK LH side headlamp: tourist lever on the grille side
UK RH side headlamp: tourist lever on the grille side
ROW LH side headlamp: tourist lever on the grille side
ROW RH side headlamp: tourist lever on the grille side

For RH side lamps, the tourist function is operated by pushing up the lever. The delivery condition is with the tourist lever pushed down. For LH side lamps , the tourist function is operated by pushing the lever down. The delivery condition is with the tourist lever pushed up

Bi-Xenon / AFS Headlamps
UK LH side headlamp: tourist lever on the fender side
UK RH side headlamp: tourist lever on the grille side
ROW LH side headlamp: tourist lever on the grille side
ROW RH side headlamp: tourist lever on the fender side
For all xenon and AFS headlamp variants the tourist function is operated by pushing the lever down. The delivery condition is with the tourist lever pushed up.

Brilliant Thank you! Just gone out to to move the lever and guess what happened?

Open the door pull ht bonnet release lever and....

something snapped. The lever has come off the wheel thats turns the cable to release the catch!

Please tell me this is common and an easy fix?

Has it snapped Under the bonnet or Inside the car? Ours snapped Inside the car but the cable shot Inside the engine compartment, it was a dealer job to replace the cable as there is no way to open the bonnet, unles someone here knows a method.

It has snapped inside the car. The Cable is fine but the Lever has snapped off it's retainer. Is that what happened to you?

Thanks Paul & Stan, I will see how much LR quote for a replacement and then take it from there. Will let you know. The Cable is still attached to the mechanism so hopefully I will be safe!!

When you have fixed the bonnet cable (and that is easy if its broken at the handle. World of if its the bonnet catch end!) I wouldNOT do the tourist thing as a) it won't pass it's MOT next time and b) it is such an easy fix to do the job properly? It is an adjuster on the top of the light fitting and all you have to do is mark a line on your garage doors or wall and wind it down with a long series Allen key.
Do it properly, and stop annoying other oncoming discos !!
