Strange random problem?

This is a bit long winded but i will try to explain exactly what happened Thumbs Up

Last weekend we were due to take my 06my 4.2sc upto Scotland for a week. Loaded the car and filled it with fuel and set off on the 400+mile trip Cool

But then only 5 miles later got a misfire followed by a "reduced engine performance" bong Sad Sad . Pulled over and read the codes and got "cylinder 5 misfire". Cleared the fault and it seemed to perk up, so we hit the motorway and all seemed well for another few miles until an uphill section and got another bong "reduced engine performance" Banging Head but this time i wasn't in a place where i could pull over so i had to keep going, within a couple of minutes i had the following faults bong up

HDC unavailable
traction control unavailable
adaptive headlight warning flashing
low range not available
transmission fault

all within a few minutes Rolling Eyes

so we made the decision to turn around and head back home. Pulled over and checked the engine fault codes and got "cylinder 5 misfire, cylinder 6 misfire, cylinder 2 misfire, cylinder 3 misfire, multiple cylinder misfire first 1500.

So we ended up going to Scotland in the Mrs's Qashqai (and averaged 57mpg over 1600 miles Bow down )

Tried the range rover today and was spluttering and banging almost as soon as it started up. When i checked the hidden menu i was getting 13-14v but as i turned everything electrical on it dropped to 10.5v and the faults started flashing up again one after the other
When revved at a steady 2500rpm it slowly climbed to 12-12.5v but never got much higher with everything switched on

Has anyone experienced anything similar, or is it just a coincidence that the misfire happened at the same time as a dodgy battery/alternator ???

Thanks in advance
Paul Thumbs Up Paul

Alternator is goosed sir... That will bring every fault code in the world up as all the ECU’s etc get underpowered! Should read 14v+ with everything switched on...

Changed all the plugs and took it out for a run. Misfire is still there although now its just coming up with cylinder 8 so next job is to swap the coil pack from another cylinder and see if the misfire moves or not Banging Head

Update-
Swapped the coil pack to number 2 and the misfire transferred to number 2 so replaced the coil on that cylinder and now all the ponies are back in the stable and happy bunny mode has returned Bow down Bow down Bow down

all fixxed Thumbs Up Paul
