Problems with NVH are usually down to mass of the object and resonance through it, you have changed the mass by adding the steps, standing on them will stop them vibrating but it is usually the weakest part that will vibrate so it maybe worth following the earlier advice to remove them and see if that helps, you seem to have covered everything else...

If a mechanic has dislodged or upset something doing the work on the engine, you would think a fault would show up but I'm not up on these "devils fuel" FF's.....  Pete

@paul, i thought injectors as well hence the shell nitro and diesel additive ...when moving the westie runs perfect , i even took it up to 130mph whilst on a break abroad...

@pete,the engine runs ok but 'feels' like its running slightly faster than i remember before this work was done ...


i think its going to be a process of elimination so when i can i'll take the steps off and then go from there..

In my experience the only injector cleaner that worked was Ultrasonic..... on a test rig, at the Bosch service centre What sort of distance has your Bus covered? If it's a high miler then a proper clean might be the only way to eliminate them... Think I'd be dropping the steps first  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

its weird that it only started after the work was done.....if you put your hand on top of the engine you can also feel it there ...
i wonder if the iidtool would come up with any live values that might explain this..

Possibly... live data on the injectors gives an indication, they should all be roughly the same.. And while 72K is a low milage, you are getting into dirty injector regions

It might be worth talking to a Bosch Service Centre... they will be a lot less than the stealers, and they have the correct equipment to diagnose and sort.. And my local charges £60 an hour  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

also i must take into consideration that this problem is being dealt by a warranty claim..

For a kick off they have test rigs for the injectors... and cleaners too! And bearing in mind that Bosch supplied the injectors to start with, LR will be using Bosch software to operate them! Plus they will have flow and pressure test equipment that the stealers wont have access to, or any idea how to use

It would be worth a telephone conversation... after all if it was a gearbox fault who would you trust to sort it.. stealers or a specialist like RRPhil? The stealers will not be in to replacing the injectors, they will be doing their very best to avoid this  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I hope you get this sorted soon Stan, I am getting paranoid.... listening for the slightest rattle, vibration, noise etc every time I go out, but thankfully everything seems fine on mine following the turbo drain mod work.
