this is what it says in the WM so i would say yes..

Mating surfaces means where the pads slide in the caliper NOT between the pad & piston(s) .

Don't add grease to the back of the pads - it does nothing positive !

It's worth adding that NO vehicle OR brake manufacturer uses grease between the pads & pistons to stop squeal.

I'm very surprised if the Land Rover manual suggests using grease between pads & pistons.
