Steering wheel reach

My steering wheel reach adjustment hasn’t worked since I’ve had the car. Whilst trying to sort another issue with brake lights tonight I found this dangling around the peddles.

Is this going to be an easy repair by reattaching the reach motor or is it a more complex job?

There are 2 motors - one for the in/out and one for the up/down. The in/out motor is held on with a white plastic clip that easily breaks and can cause the motor to fall off (whcih looks like what has happened to yours) - You can't get the plastic clip, though i have seen people fabricate something to fix this problem. The other problem with this motor is the black plastic nut can strip its thread - so check that too.

The up/down problem is caused by something different - the lugs that hold the (brass) nut can break off.

Mine did the same early last year. As said, you can't get the white plastic mount separately. I used a couple of heavy duty cable ties to lash it back into position, and touch wood, it's been fine since. Is a very uncomfortable job to do though! 2004 Vogue TD6 - Remapped Smile

I was on a well known auction site and happened to see one on there and was showing the land rover part number on the packet so googled it and this was cheapest place I found it.

Thats the bracket you need QYH500030 - always been available, although not everyone stocks it. Although these days its a lot more expensive than it used to be - used to only be a fiver!

You will need to rummage around at the back of the carpet though for the steel rod which drives through it. It will be there- I found it sat on top of the carpet behind the pedals. (just spotted in your picture the rod is still in place)

You'll also need the force of hercules to put it in and once its in, its not coming out so make sure you have it set up. After an hour or so of contorting and fighting it I realised a long spark plug socket placed over the lug and a sharp tap got it in. Current Fleet:-
2018 Discovery 5 3.0 HSE
2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrack
2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt 5.0 V8
1993 Defender 90 200TDI Pickup

2012 L322 4.4 Westminster
2004 L322 4.4 V8 Autobiography LE
2000 P38 RR 4.0 HSE (ex Clarkson test car)
