Roof rails

Couple of questions please before I go genuine or poweful UK:

Do the genuine rails require the removal of the little covers on the roof (which I understand to be permanent)

Also, can you get the rail end caps separately? (Probably a question for Dan)

Has anyone used the powerful UK set as they seem good value? https://www.powerfuluk.com/range-rover-l32...-bars.html

Thanks all! Bish.

I have genuine roof bars and they are quality. I have heard some negatives about powerful uk stuff being built down to a budget. would avoid them TBH unless others disagree.

The plastic covers hinge vertically towards the centre pf the car and are not removed. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

I’ve seen gen ones for c.£190 on eBay. The roof caps do have to come off permanently unfortunately.

If you just want bars rather than rails, then the caps do not have to come off to fit the sports bars, they just flick up to expose the bolts

You should be able to pick up a set for circa £50 on ebay

Thanks all.

Currently going to stick to getting rails as they offer flexibility the fixed bars do not.

Good to know the genuine rails don't need the flaps cutting off.

Depends if I can find some cheap enough though! Laughing Bish.

Don't confuse bars with rails. Sports bars do not remove the plastic covers. Front to back rails I believe do remove the plastic covers as above. Thumbs Up

I think £50 is pushing it for 322 sports bars. The cheapest I can see today are £110.00. Big Cry 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

If you are fitting front to back rails for which I understand the roof flaps have to be broken off to fit would it be worth considering drilling holes in the said flaps at the fixing bolt positions so that the fixing bolts pass through the flaps to allow the roof rails to sit down flat whilst still retaining the flaps. If you then subsequently remove the rails, the flaps would still be in place, the holes could simply be sealed with gorilla tape or similar patches. Given the flaps are high up any patches would never be seen, if you have a black car even more so. Thumbs Up
