Another noob question of parking heater and pre heater

Hi all, thanks to some cold days I've established both these function now, however a couple of things still bug me;

The parking/residual heater - after pressing MAX AC mine works nice and hot but only for about 2 minutes at most before switching off. Is this due to a weak battery? How long should it puff for?

The FBH/pre heater - how long before getting in do you start it to produce some meaningful heat? On a morning before work, and by the time my slurred brain actually remebers the function exists, its only on for about 5 mins before I step out the door. I'm greeted with stinking diesel fumes so know its working and can hear it puffing away inside, but its nowhere near warm in fact I'd call it cold...

In my experience on a frosty morning with ice on the windscreen the FBH needs at least 15 min to make a useful difference and melt the ice. 20 -25 min better yet. I think it shuts off automatically after 30 min. Previously a 2008MY Tonga Green Vogue SE 3.6 TDV8

The heater will run for a max of 30 minutes, so I aim to get to the car at about 25 mins.

The max AC thing doesn’t use the fbh, just the heat in the water. No idea if it’s any good or how long it runs as I’ve never used it.

Cheers I'll have to remember to switch the FBH on before making my sandwiches!

The residual heater, well I was expecting more from this to be honest, maybe the short duration is battery condition related?

You should be able to manually turn the FBH on before you leave someone in the car and use that for warmth if you need to.

Though obviously battery dependant. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

the residual heat only blows air through the heater matrix after 2mins or so its cold anyway.

FBH - 15-20mins i sue mine for in the winter. Cheers

The FBH runs a self test during start up, anything wrong with the FBH, then it will purge the combustion chamber for 2 mins, then shut off. If it fails to start 3 times in a row, the PCB locks out the starting sequence, pulling the fuse for a spell can reset the lockout, but it does not cure what caused the lockout. If the FBH starts up ok, it can take about 2 minutes for it to ramp up to full speed. As previously said, hard for it to run hot for 2 mins when it takes longer than that to start up.

Thanks for that info, sorry not to acknowledge, just seen this been too busy for the internet for a few weeks.

Sounds like a fuse oull wouldnt hurt - still to warm at the moment, shouldnt complain though!
