2014 l405 AB. I followed the video instructions and it worked for me. I use a Faraday pouch, tested it and that worked. I also fit a Thatcham steering lock and park my works car behind the RR when at home. My full HD CCTV System covers the car front, rear and sides.

I keep mine in a tight fitting biscuit tin and I tried it within a foot of the car door and it will not open the locks.

Kitchen foil also works, but it's no where near as handy as having it in a open/close faraday bag. I only keep my spare key wrapped in foil since I never us it so the inconvenience is trivial.

I bought Faraday bags off ebay (one for each the keys I have) around 20 months ago for @£5.50 each and they work fine. I also can put it in the bag, put it right next to the door handle and cannot open the door, so they obviously block the signal pretty well. The only thing I would say is that if you have your key fob on a ring with a bunch of keys, it might be a tight squeeze getting it into some of the bags and closing it as the ones I have seen are relatively compact - I keep mine separate so not an issue for me. Steve

They work well

Got given a wee Faraday bag FOC by a locksmith who was admiring our RR yesterday. Was surprised by the simplicity of it and that it worked but it does. Put the keys in the bag and then approached the car and the doors won’t open. Press key fob buttons whilst the fobs are in the bag and even standing right next to the car, nothing worked when pushing the buttons.

I think they do work, once in the bag I cannot open the doors nor start the engine if the key is in the bag. That said I also have a telescopic security post on my drive as an extra deterrent and two 4 legged friends with good hearing for anyone snooping around.

surely the whole point of keyless entry is that you have the key in your pocket/hand bag/man bag/under your flat cap if you're 'up north', and you walk up to your FF and the door is open..

having the key in a faraday pouch means you have to take it out and then put it somewhere? and then you can get access..

if yu're going to do that , you might as well disable it and just use the buttons..i mean thats why evolution gave us fingers ....

If I’m not mistaken Stan, and I maybe, the thieves can still open you car even if keyless entry is disabled if they can can receive your key signal, hence whether it’s on or off I’d still use a faraday bag.
Happy to be corrected on that one, but that’s what a locksmith advised me who programmed a new key for me.

If the system is disabled then the "usual" method of scanning around your perimeter for a signal no longer works...

There are however more scams developing daily! Rolling Eyes

For me personally, i have mine switched off as our D4 doesn't have keyless entry and having them both the same is easier for my good lady to understand Whistle

I also have an immobiliser with a fob that needs to be dropped into a certain place for the car/s to start! If i had the above system switched on, i would still need to take the keys out of my pocket to drop the fob! Which for me would be a faff!!! A bit like a faraday bag and i would end up not using it!

My daughters car however has a keyless system which i really like! You get out and simply walk away and after about 5 feet it bleeps at you, then a further 5 feet it bleeps again and locks! No pressing those stupid handle dimples on a FF! Then when you come back to the car there is a small button on the door handle and that unlocks the car... Very easy and efficient! Well done Mazda Thumbs Up

Another quick point to make...

How many members know about let alone use the "super locks" ??? If you lock your FF's using just one press of the button (be that door or remote) then you do NOT engage the alarm or the deadlock facility!

I’ve always used the double press deadlock facility.

Accepting thieves might always find a way, the Faraday bag (if working) is meant to counter attempts to override and drive away an immobilised car, for example if the keys are locked in the house and the car is parked outside. Some people use them just at night time to reduce the chances of waking up in the morning to find the RR gone and two keys still being where they were left in the house the night before.

The bag I was given is small, only just fits two keys and whilst it works well, it is indeed a pfaff to put the keys in it and take them out.
