L405 Service due message

Afternoon All,

car flashed up this morning , service due 1700 miles.

lunch time - service due.

Only had the damn thing since November, it's last service was 30/8/18 80k mile service , it's only done less than 3k since. So it looks like the service indicator wasn't re-set. Is there any way I can do this without an obd reader? I know its a 1st world problem , but will be annoying AF every time it's started . Thumbs Up

Shouldn't really reply to my own thread, should have googled it 1st, seemingly rather easy:

Just in case there is more to it: My car started throwing up inappropriate service messages when relatively new. It needed a software update, apparently a common problem. With some models there is also the dilution of engine oil with diesel due to regeneration being stopped, typically on cars used for short journeys, that necessitates more frequent oil changes, see other threads on here about that problem, which can lead to service due messages sooner than expected, but in that case for good reason. Only Range Rovers since 1988

That doesn’t clear the message on LAND ROVER REMOTE. Any idea how to clear that when you have booked your service a month ahead
( clearing the dash message was very helpful thanks)

This procedure only resets the oil dilution counter.

Resetting the time/distance countdown (which generates the message on L/R remote) requires diagnostic equipment (IIDTool or similar).

Mine threw up a “Service due in 1,800 miles” message yesterday. Today it’s down changed to 500 miles and I’ve only driven about 70 miles in between.

Any ideas why this might be?

Thanks

Well I sat and waited, they did a health check, could find no reason why it flashed up, although the rear diff is leaking, so something for the future.

That will end up in needing a new diff. See other threads on this well known issue. Sad
