Air suspension

Is there a way to make the air suspension operate with out the engine running? I’m thinking of doing a engine swap on one with a knackered 4.6 but would like to keep the air suspension active. I’m guessing the becm gets its reading from the engine and then activates the eas?

You can certainly operate it with diagnostics software (ie EAS Unlock) without the engine running. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

I second what UK Marine says.

I have that exact system on my P38, which has been valuable beyond words. From the same seller.

Over Xmas I had the entire front end stripped down and spend many days under the car, would have been impossible without the inflation device.

Just get a good foot pump and or compressor and keep and eye on the PSI.

Looks hilarious to be stood by the Range Rover pumping it up by foot like a bike Rolling with laughter

But you can't recharge the air tank without the engine running. Thats the point of the extra air valves set up I mentioned, you put air directly into each air spring as needed..... Thumbs Up ______________________________

He says he did it using nanocom when re calibrating the air suspension. Ran the compressor without the engine running, though ignition was on and lifted the car up. Not sure how removing the engine will effect a non error ignition though? But certainly could run the compressor and raise suspension without engine running via nanocom. 2003 VW Golf V6 4motion

That is true you can activate the compressor, but in the long run when parked waiting for your missus and with a boot full of shopping you get a suspension fault.

It then drops to the bump stops and your missus turns up just when it starts raining and your left trying to explain how you’re going to fix it without your diagnostics, that you left at home...... ask me how I know Very Happy

That’s why I fitted that valve kit, it’s completely independent of the compressor and can be used with a foot pump, portable tyre inflator or a filling station air line. I’ve had a few P38s and they all, without exception, had suspension failures.

Just view the valve kit as future proofing Thumbs Up ______________________________

I used to run my compressor quite a lot to fill the tank when I was playing around with mine so it certainly can be done without the engine running (this was with EAS Unlock).

It will flatten the battery eventually, but I assume that isn't a problem in this scenario. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE
