I believe the system should still operate even if the battery is out of the handset. The handset itself is only there for making phone calls when you want to get out of the car.

Also make sure your sim is GSM - Vodafone or O2 network only - Orange or Three wont work! 2015 L405 SDV8 Autobiography, Indus Silver with Black Pack.

Yeah I have an O2 sim inserted the correct way. I have checked the master switch aswell. So it seems I have an issue with the handset not getting power when its in the craddle-looks like the cradle might be disconnected? Where in the car are the modules etc that operate the phone?

As I said, the handset doesnt need to have power, or be present for the system to work. The workshop manual gives a good overview of the various components the phone system uses and their locations, you should check each of them to ensure their plugs are well seated etc and also for water damage. |

As Dan says, handset is totally irrelevant. Mine's never worked, but I used the carphone all the time. Why would you want to use the handset? If you're driving you'll want to be handsfree via the microphone etc. For dialling you use voice control or the satnav control screen.

I don't use texts on the carphone, since it has a separate sim. Do you have your main mobile connected via bluetooth?

These are the components relating to the factory fitted phone kit. Apart from the cradle and handset (obviously!) the rest are located in the rear near side panel with the rest of the audio/tv & nav modules, if fitted.
