Brake lines - how much

I've had the flexi hose rears replaced but I will need the entire brake lines doing. I've seen a guide (fantastic it was) but looks like a huge job! Has anyone had theirs done from an Indy or main dealer and if so, how much? What's everyne's experience with this common fault?

Something separate, I have quite spongy brakes atm. Any ideas on a possible cause or are they supposed to be like that? I'm thinking they might just need a bleed.

Spongy Brakes - some options:

May need bleeding
New linings not yet bedded-in
Brake drums or discs badly worn or cracked
Master cylinder securing nuts loose
Wheel cylinder or caliper leaking
Master Cylinder leaking - bubbles in master cylinder reservoir
Brake pipe line or flexible hose leaking
Unions in brake system loose and leaking .

Hi Stuart,
I had similar work done to my 2007 S/C last summer at MOT time - corrosion failure.
Replacing front to rear brake pipes, labour was £525.

I also have slightly spongy brakes according to the mechanic and he suspects the after-market rear calipers fitted to my car, to add to the list of your possible causes.

I use an independent LR/RR specialist. Current: 2007 RR 4.2 SC, now deceased, written off by an X5
Past: 1968 LR 2.25 (petrol) Series IIa

Cheers, Domino! I was thinking it would be around 400, so I wasn't far off. I've seen the guide on the wiki and tempted to have a go myself with the father in law.

Was yours replacing the hoses on the back too? I've had mine done and the cost for the parts was 90 from LR.

Also, see this post about changing the front pipes (different for TDV8)

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic50421.html

(The howto wiki is all the same under the car / wheelarches, just the pipes in the engine bay, actually it is easier than a TD6)

Worth seeking a price for the two front pipes from Dan @ Duckworths if you do not fancy making up your own.
And change the front flexis as well. .

Cheers Joe. The how to guide is about 3 days, which is fine.

When you say Dan @ Duckworths, I've seen this name before, do you mean he's on here or a website he has? Is he able to make up all the lines I will need and then buy the flexi pipes for the front from LR?
