Well if you have twin electrics 1 will be 7 pins the same as your mate's trailer and should work the same as your caravan the other plug is for running a fridge, charging caravan batterie.

Yes the only thing that's not on with friends car was reverse lights which I believe are in other plug.

Can you check the plug in the spare wheel area for corrosion?

You have an earth problem and it's back feeding via other lights etc. Check inside the socket on the car, check the pins for corrosion etc. BMW i3 Electric Car

Some cars do not recognise led trailer lights and require a modification to get them to work correctly. These issues are well known and a quick google of specific car/ year and caravan will give you the relevant fix. Generally it is the combination that causes the issue a different car will work the lights. Otherwise trailer light issues are generally earth problem related. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Been to autoelectrician today car wiring was all ok.
Replaced plugs on caravan . Now got lights working.
Could do with cleaning sockets on car.
Would wd40 do this ?

GT85 is better (IMHO) than WD40.

If the sockets are really bad then I would replace them & sparay them occasionally with GT85. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

You said "Plugged van into friends car all ok" so how could it have been the caravan plugs or have I understood it wrong? BMW i3 Electric Car
