my personal experience is to mount a cheap chinese nav with easily obtainable up-to-date maps on the vent and only use the main nav as a reference point to where you are on your journey..

I followed Stan’ s lead but tried a slightly different approach with a home made mount, but , more recently I have been using my iPad mini , using google maps, and the Gap App to view iid live values.
