Hi Dolphin don't drive it it won't do a regen when you have a RED.
What will happen is it will get worse, you'll go over 30g and you don't want that.

What happened wt the hoses?

Haven't left yet. The red code has cleared so it should be ok to drive and try and regen non? can monitor the live value.

What does 30g trigger? (LR dealer said they won't force regen one over 23g)

Should I wait and replace the sensor (wiring all looks good on inspection) or see if a good motorway blast can regen?

The hoses al look good and no leaks/splits found

And any engine management light either red or orange?

just got back from a 60mph stroll up the M way for 25 mins (45MPG! )

Soot level was 26.5 at start and went up to 26.8 on the lane to the Mway. Once on Mway after 8 mins levels started dropping, then finally dropped to 21.4 and stopped dropping. Stayed steady all way until came off Mway and went up to 21.8 on the 5 mins to home.

Obviously regen started but did not finish. Interestingly the "Remaining space" for DPF was reading zero! What is the capacity?

these are my readings - I think New sensor needed. Why is it not regenning? what do you guys reckon?

You must live close to Motorway.

But it did regenerate. And you’re out of the critical level.

I would go out again and try again.

You need to set up your IID view to show the exhaust temps.

On regen, Bank 1, Sensors 2 and 3 will climb to and past 500 degrees. If you see that you’ll know it’s starting. It should go to 620+ degrees.

Sometimes it will drop to 580 it it should go back over 620

Once over 600 you should see the soot level start to tumble.

Stay on cruise, 50mph is enough. Remember fuel should be well over a quarter tank.

This is my set up. Regen using the DA-DPF last night got my soot well down.

My iid is the same version as Greg’s.
We don’t have the Oil quality fuel dilution factor, but I think it is very useful if you think you are getting multiple failed regens.
I notice yours is reading 12... I would like to know what reading triggers an alert to change the oil.
I thought I had seen 8%. mentioned in a post??

Just to add Dolphin, setting up the screen like mine so you can see those temps is essential, seeing above 600 is the only way to know it's actually happening.

Yes I know a falling soot is a good indication, but it's really the temps you need to see. For example you only ended your run because you saw the soot stop falling. I am thinking it may have kept going if you kept driving.

The soot level is actually a calculated estimate figure, so sometimes takes a pause on regeneration - checks itself then it will go pagan (see my comment above regarding it dropping to 580ish then back up again.

25mins just might not have been long enough. I only pull off the motorway when I see the temps dropping to 400ish. This eliminate the 500's drops which can go up as I said. At 400's range I know it's done.

Usually that's 4-5grams but a few weeks ago mine stopped at 12g. It can be a bit sporadic.

BTW Your DTC code just means your DPF was saying it was full.
Not that the sensor was faulty.

You'll also notice a differential voltage on my screenshot. The higher the volt, the more blocked it actually is. Since the grams figure is a calculated figure - it's a estimate - a very good one (there's a paper I read on how accurate these are) - you can kind of cross check the grams estimate at those high number if it's really blocked or not. 0.5-0.9v is acceptable. above 1.0v there is too much pressure meaning the DPF is really full. Cheers, Greg

The field I have on my IID (and some others) is "Diesel particulate filter soot concentration - inferred using differential pressure". It appears that recent IIDs have this instead of an earlier field that was "Non Continuous Soot Mass" - as per Greg's screenshot above.

And as Greg says, ensure you have those exhaust temp fields shown so you can see the temp rocket up

That's right DrRob, newer IIDs (or if you carry out the software update) have revised fields. I've not updated mine.

Dolphin, pls talk us through what happened when you plugged in the IID. I'd really like to know when the RED DPF FULL message disappeared.

When I plugged in the Iid it came up with a number of fault codes (most from way back before I owned it). The relevant one was the DPF sensor as shown earlier.

I just requested clear all codes and it did. All Lights (EML/REd DPF etc) went off and stayed off. it has been clear since.

I have a feeling that the regen is being stopped by the engine oil dilution (stands at 12 [%/ml.gms? who knows!] caused by excessive diesel being sprayed into the DPF to burn off the soot) and an oil change may cure. Otherwise I guess it may be the Temp sensor not allowing the temps to rise due to false reading etc.
