Fuel sender 2 and rear passenger window

Got a few problems first the fuel sender 2 coming up on reader three gauge dropped to empty and the light is on also the range has just got three lines I recently replaced it the original one but I used one off eBay 🙈 it’s been good for 6 months the original one was not sending fuel to the other side of the tank Could I have just swapped the smaller side or is it the main larger side that does this ?? Also the drivers rear window has stopped working all together now before it was lowering its self so I turned the rears off with the switch but when I turn it back on now there is nothing on drivers side the passenger one is working fine.please if anybody has any idea HELP please

Andy,

You've had the senders out so know your way around the tank area.

There are a few threads about this on here. Can be caused by the connectors in the tank beginning to fail and rewiring with a mod that entails crimps being fitted in place of the connectors.

The Technical Service Bulletin covering this is here,

Hope this helps Cheers

What's the difference between a tsb and a recall?
Facing similar symptoms, so thinking of getting it fixed the proper way.

A recall relates to an issue endangering life? A TSB is just a way for the manufacturer to communicate common issues and their resolution to the field in a structured way. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Andy

On the window, there are one or two threads about the drivers door switch panel contacts on the connectors becoming corroded. IIRC the cause could be ingress of water when the drivers window is open, the runoff from the windscreen in rain and from the wipers is perfectly channeled round the A pillar and down onto the switch unit. Might be worth a look on that and the rear door switches and connectors, but it does mean door cards off I think.

Use a trim removal tool set if you can, the fasteners are easily broken with a screwdriver. For the sake of a few £s on ebay or Amazon it's a no brainer. Cheers

I know this concerns a tailgate, but the idea of a chafed wire in the ducting/gaiter may be worth a look if you don't find corrosion from water ingress

Cheers rjff that could be a possibility as before you could hear the relay keep clicking as if something was earthing when you went over bumps before

Great you got the fuel system sorted. Thumbs Up

Oh dear, now it's my turn Sad

Yup, took senior half of partnership out a couple of day ago and guess what? Her window isn't working on her door switch Rolling Eyes I suppose I could suggest she sits in the back like Lady Muck with chauffeur, but I'm not putting on fancy hat for anyone. Maybe something to do with having the passenger door window replaced earlier on after a stone break, perhaps the connectors a bit loose.

Let us know how you get on. Cheers

Both my rear windows stopped working.

To diagnose I pulled the plug and checked with the multimeter to see if any power was getting through.

On one side it was, so I took the door apart and the window motor had burnt out. Much easier to change than is described, about 30 minutes work to change the entire thing.
On the other side there was no power even though you could hear the relays clicking. so checked output close to the BCU, and still no power, so that discounted the wiring, and required the BCU to be repaired. Cheap and good fast service. I cant remember his name, but sure I put it on an earlier posting. Its likely the BCU failure caused the motor burn out.

Tip. (especially for those without kids!) Use the back windows every now again to keep them from getting tight as this puts a current strain on the BCU relays
Also make sure the rubber slides are kept lubricated with silicone spray.

Best wishes
