Once again you guys have saved the day, driving home my Adaptive Dynamics warning light pops up, uh-oh I thought. Parked, got iPad, looked up fullfatrr.com and 15 minutes later it’s fixed, broken wire front drivers side (right side in the UK). Thank you to everyone who contributes to this great site, Merry Christmas all.

Thanks for this write up -- quick fix indeed -- well actually I took the time to let some new pieces of cable in and solder (rather than using a straight through crimp as someone had done before) - and hey presto -- happy FFRR Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Well it happened to mine yesterday, this morning I took the cover off and sure enough the wire was brittle and broken. I made up a new lead using silicone wire (like whats used on test meter probes), inside some heatshrink sleeve and then some braided sleeve on the outside. Ran this back to the look, cut into it and remade the connections. All fine now.

Just one point many of you think these cables are static, theyre not, they turn with the steering hence the breaks.

Ordered from Sophie.Alltoft@duckworth.co.uk

LR032839 - UPGRADE SUSPENSION ADAPTIVE DAMPER WIRING FOR RANGE ROVER L322 - 2009-2012 - GENUINE LAND ROVER

I really like Duckworth. Really helpful, fast turnaround and cheaper than the other Genuine LR stockists.
I'm only using them from now on.

Also Top Tip is to use Shirinkable Solder Connectors - they are fantastic and much easier than soldering if you are out of practice...

This alert popped up on my 2011 5.0 S/C on the way back from Newbury on Sunday, just as I got back into Poole. The longest journey the vehicle has done for 7-8 weeks now, beautiful as always aside from this minor surprise at the end!

Thankfully I'd read about it all on here many times, so I wasn't overly concerned, and assumed/hoped it would just be the usual broken wire in a front turret.

IID plugged in as soon as I got home which instantly pointed out the front right turret. I whipped that off, and yes, a clear break in one of the wires. I know Greg and others have posted fancier repairs, or using the complete LR replacement harness, but given this was the first time it's happened to my vehicle, I thought for now I'll just solder it up, and then decide what to do for if/when it goes next time, and order up some parts so I have them ready.

That was still easier said than done - my soldering iron seemed to be utterly dead, and Dad's ancient iron was barely hot enough to melt butter and didn't make a good join at all... So I gave up on having it fixed last night, removed the dodgy soldering as I wasn't happy with it at all, and ordered up a new iron on Amazon to arrive today. That was here by lunchtime, so I finished the repair tonight. All now seems to be working perfectly, at least for a couple of miles test drive.

Am now reading the various threads about alternative/longer term fixes, so I can stock up on supplies ready should it go again, or the other side suffer the same problem!

Paul - great to hear. Did the IID specifically say "front right" by any chance? Is that driver's or passenger's side? I get confused Rolling with laughter 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Rob,
I can’t remember the exact wording on the iid, but when mine broke it left me in no doubt that the fault was front passenger side.

Yes, was very clear - just plain old "right" on mine, no confusion about drivers, passengers, etc!

The exact message was: "C110D-14 (2C) Front right damper solenoid - General electrical failure - circuit short to ground or open"
