So the ABS module has returned and no faults found which is disappointing as I was hoping for a smoking gun. This is a pain as the trust in the car will be difficult.
The garage are waiting for the belt and tensioner to hopefully stop the squeaking.

Looks like I will be using the wife’s car for anything important, which is the only reason to use a car. Will have to have a think of what to do.

Graham

On the later L322's you really have to use the designated JLR diagnostics to locate issues, they can read to a much deeper level than any other including Snap-On etc

Ask around and you may find someone with the kit or ask JLR to do a diagnostics and report on it.

Using a generic reader can cost a fortune in the long run... Thumbs Up Pete

The garage uses Autologic, and I ran the JLR version of icarsoft. The both said the same thing. I instructed the garage to send the unit for testing as a precaution.

The repair company has said they abs module has passed. The garage stuck it back on and the errors cam back straight away.

The mechanic is now on 10days isolation.

It sounds like more detailed issue that will take a while to fix. This is already a long one, this will be super long, thank god we didn’t sell the wife’s car.

Following, as I've been there too.

Wishing you the best Graham, hope you get to the bottom of it and get to enjoy the car

Anyone near you with a GAP tool? I'm too far away sadly. 09 RR Westminster 3.6TDV8 - Stornoway Grey / Black interior - now gone (sad face)

Do you think the Gap tool will tell you more than the Autologic that the garage has or the icarsoft unit I have used? I have read a load of stuff on this type of fault and it appears it could be a number of things. I had noticed before the car was collected that the steering sensor was showing a crazy angle on the icarsoft tool, I have told them this, however, like most professionals you never believe the customer.

Its at an indi near me and I have a lot going on at the moment to give it much thought. I did think it was a good idea to post up the history here so hopefully it can help in the future. I'm very thankful that we never went down to one car.

So it’s still in the garage but the mechanic is back. They plugged the abs unit back in and the errors popped back up. They have noticed that the voltage to the fuses drops to 10v when the unit is plugged in but they show 12v when it isn’t.
They are getting an auto electrician to have a look tomorrow.

Hopefully know more then.

They have fixed it there was a open short on one of the wires. They have it this out and replace it so it looks like it’s all good I should get the car back today.

To be honest I’m not actually sure which wire, I have a lot on and those things have been a higher priority in my life.
I will email them and ask. They said there was an open circuit on one of the wires it looks like from the fuse box under the engine. I think they have chopped a section out and shoved a new bit in.

The car interior was grubby when it came back with oily marks, and I found a rag under the bonnet, normally this would have wound me up. I have given it a quick clean and it’s much better. The car was super clean as per my shots when I got the car that I uploaded on here.

I have put the car on charge and sprays a load of autoglym disinfectant stuff on the switch gear and I will leave it to sit a few days.

I want to test the car and brakes and make sure they have been bled correctly.

So the brakes definitely have air in them. The garage replied that the feed and Earth wire from main fuse box to ECU that had repair.

I’m going to my trusted garage now he’s back from being off after hurting his leg. I don’t trust them to bleed the brakes, the quality of the repair to the loom is also at the back of my mind... if I ever get the chance I might investigate.
It does seem strange two wires were damaged.
