But...In general I wouldn't do it at all. I would just stick to the basics and make certain my master cylinder and lines work well, my fluids are fresh, and my discs and pads are good. The braking power will be plenty to stop it. The bigger Brembo's are just well that, bigger. But also add extra weight most likely. And still don't give the sensation of super brakes anyway. I think it would be a waste of money project with very limited measurable benefit.


The six pot calipers are WAY lighter than the boat anchor two pot sliding calipers of the facelift 3.6. Stopping power seems vastly improved to me.

I have. Six pots fit on a 2010MY (facelift with TFT instruments) 3.6 - you don't need the hubs.

I balanced with the rear brakes from a 4.4, too, as the rear discs are bigger - calipers, carriers and discs. All of the parts (apart from wearing parts) came from a donor 4.4 on eBay..[/quote]

Thanks for your info and good to hear you've already done the conversion. Can I confirm from your message that the rear callipers and discs are bigger also? Didn't want to misunderstand at this stage and could you give me a rough cost as I'm assuming you did it yourself?

Yes, they are - I can't remember the exact figure (something like 18mm bigger diameter rings a bell). If I remember, the difference is just in the carrier and pads, the brake caliper itself is the same, but I'd managed to get a low mileage set of calipers so replaced the assembly..

Costs wise, I paid £75 for each side at the front, and £80 for each rear - these included the hubs and suspension parts too, from a breaker.

I bought new discs and pads all round:

Front pads £125
Rear pads £68
Front discs £130
Rear discs £120
Rear parking brake shoes £40
Sundries and fitting kits £20

The pad wear sensor at the front is different so you'll need one of those, too.

It all adds up, but my brakes were at the end of their life anyway, so it made sense to put the six pots on..

I bought a pair of 4 pots from a 2008 TDV8 then found out they wouldn’t fit my 2010. I was told I need the 6 pot off the 4.4 or the 5.0sc.

For some bizarre reason they fitted the TRW callipers to the 2010 year only. Same ones as Jaguar I believe. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Discs- LR031845 -£86.10 Per Side + VAT

Pad Wear Sensor- LR012824 -£22.66 + VAT

Flexi hoses- LR075628 -£37.34 Per Side + VAT

Disc back Plates - LR011721 & LR011722 -£35.69 Per Side + VAT

Disc Plate Bolts- LR018509 -£0.66 + VAT (X6)

New mounting bolts- SYG500050 -£4.63 + VAT (X4)

The Flexi hoses are the same as those currently on the vehicle however I would advise if you do go ahead with the conversion to replace them.

Looks like a project for a little later the the weather warms up a bit!
