Front/ Rear Brake Discs and Pads

Going to replace all discs and pads and will do handbrake linings at same time. Are there any issues in doing this, looks straightforward enough. Does anything need "resetting" after? I have no diagnostic tool. Finally where is best place to go, I usually use ECP. I have a 2009 3.6 TDV8 with EPB. Any advice appreciated. 2009 Range Rover Vogue 3.6TDV8, Bournville, Parchment/Navy

I had some trouble (that's an understatement) getting the front disk retaining screws off. Make sure you have an impact driver. I had to get the grinder out.

I'd suggest Advanced Factors for the parts. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Shouldn't be any need to reset anything. The bedding in procedure for the EPB pads is in the workshop manual. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

A Trap

If nothing is seized or chewed up from previous hamfisted monkeys it should be very straight forward and obvious. Aprox 3 hours and you should be done.

Wire wheel the hubs perfectly clean (the area that the disc and wheel mate with on the hub), any dirt or build up of corrosion here will make your discs and wheels run out (wobble), apply thin coat of Permertex or ceramic grease on the clean surfaces. . (Not copper slip) 👍

Thanks for that tip, everything looks quite clean so hopefully nothing seized or bodged! My existing hubs were rusty so I painted rough areas. Do they all do this so should I paint before fitting new discs?

I’ve just done discs pads and rear calipers. Discs from ECP - couldn’t find a better price for Brembo, genuine TRW calipers from Advanced Factors, great price and great service, pads from LR Parts - Ferodo and various fitting bits from Both ECP and Advanced Factors.

It came in at about 550 Without the VAT for everything and a few hours work. I had to get the impact gun on the front caliper bolts and the o/s rear disc made a fight of it but other than that quite straightforward.

No reset required, I had to bleed the brakes but only because I changed the calipers, just pop the fluid reservoir cap off if you’re doing discs and pads.

Last point, there are cheaper parts about, but if you want OE quality without paying ‘Land Rover tax’ go for Brembo, Ferodo, TRW or even Pagid, there are deals to be had if you’ve got the time.

I have a 2009 3.6 TDV8 and I fitted “Brembo” discs and pads from ECP... worst thing I ever did! They are absolutely terrible and do not provide any confidence while braking

Turns out they’re not the Brembo we’re led to believe

I will be replacing them shortly for 4.4 TDV8 brakes and Ferodo discs and pads 2010 MY Range Rover 3.6 TDV8 Vogue SE - Stornoway Grey with Semi-Aniline Ivory Leather and Piano Black Trim

As said dont use ECP I am on my 3rd set of front discs from them and they are crap, use the site sponsors I got a complete kit for the wifes D3 and it is great. No issues what so ever.
My current discs are going back and I'm getting a set from said site sponsors.
Brembo dont make discs ECP buy in cheap crap and rebrand them as such.

Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad experience, I’m no fan of ECP but there is no doubt the discs I got are genuine Brembo and so far seem fine
Brembo parts are hologrammed and serial numbered, have a look at their website.

A Trap

My ‘Brembo’ pads were made by TWR I think. brembo allow others to make parts under license.

Fitted Delphi discs and pads all round. Perfect pedal feel, no fade and less dust than the ‘Brembo’s”

Better have a look round and see what deals are on, Delphi and Pagid seem to be recommended by most. Thanks again. 2009 Range Rover Vogue 3.6TDV8, Bournville, Parchment/Navy
