No I didn't want to have to go deeper and disconnect the other end of the pipe so just changed the O ring, which works fine. I also changed the whole oil cooler unit instead of the gaskets and it's still all fine a year on. Hope yours the same.

just finished replacing the gaskets on my oil cooler. Also had to replace the water outlet connection after I snapped the top pipe into it, new part was £45 from Land Rover. What a difference in the performance and responsiveness after cleaning the inlet plenum, throttle body and MAP sensor.

So my new 4.4 is damp with oil underneath. Went for it anyway as it was the second I saw with the issue.

Can anyone just double confirm for me please that this is an o ring leak like I suspect?

So my next silly question is;

Easiest way to get in there to change it? Step ladder? Kneel on the block?

It was a small step ladder for me as I'm only 5ft 8!

Small step ladder and I put the engine cover back on so I could lie flat on the engine. 2011 Vogue SE TDV8

I suggest doing the o rings first followd by a good clean up of the area. If the oil does not reappear then it's fixed. If it continues to appear, then it may be the cooler gaskets.

IIR folks on here saying the o rings are a half hour job. The cooler is several hours teardown.

Be sure to use Viton o rings as all on here suggest.

HTH. Cheers

Is there any specific torque you must do the feed pipe up to, or is it ‘tight is right’.

Thanks

I THINK the figures are in the WM. Search

workshop manual/engine/engine description/stats and spec.

If I am right the figure in on the last page, oil feed to turbo stub pipe banjo bolt. BEWARE, the bolt goes into an ali casting. Cheers

I can’t picture how you can get a torque wrench and socket anywhere near it, but look forward to seeing any pictures to prove me wrong.

Tight enough not to work loose is all that is required. Thread locker is a better option than over-tightening if you're unsure of what is needed.

Thanks everyone.

Feed pipe rings replaced this morning with the recommended ones. Easy job. Never had to climb into an engine bay before though. Hardest part was getting the pipe back in after, lovely and tight with new rings on.

Old rings felt like hard plastic and snapped like plastic would when taking off. Absolutely rock solid.
