many thanks to the d3 crowd that looked after me , dom and justin today ...we were embarrassed that we were the only ones that made the effort to turn up and consequently we were outnumbered by the discos...anyways a really fantastic and very enjoyable day...nice to meet dom and justin.

Sad to see Stan and shame I got rid of my FFRR, otherwise I'd have been there.

But having been unable to organise the factory tour because we couldn't get 10 people together and seeing the turn out on this, it does make you wonder if it's actualy worth organising anything.

Talking of which... what happened to the Calendar?

indeed it is sad , and i know if you had a full fat you would have made the effort especially after you made the first post to get things going.

tbh, i was having second thoughts about going but i'm really glad i did ..the disco boys put a lot of thought into the day with previous 'recon' missions to plan the route..we toured the plains for about 6 hours with a couple of stops for coffee/drinks, nibbles and a chat. .lastly we ended up going through 3 fords to help with the washing of the underside of our vehicles..

...i didnt sign up for the factory tour because it really didnt interest me and it was to expensive [for me]...

isnt it funny about the calender, everyone wants their picture included but nobody wants to organise it...  ... - .- -.

My own experience of trying to organise days out and meets has been similar - loads of interest but at the end of the day few make it to the event.
There have been two exceptions - in the early days of RRSport and D3 a joint outing was made to the factory and we had so many from both forums prepared to take a day off work and fork out a small fortune that we had to limit the numbers - and people came from the length and breadth of the UK for that one. The other one was LPR, myself and one other member organised an August meet at the Ace Cafe in west London for the RRSport forum members. LPR opened the showroom and service bays up, laid on teas and coffees and then we did a "cruise in company" out to the Ace Cafe. Numbers for the showroom had to be limited but we had something like 15 cars from all over the UK and some even came over from Europe, it was a glorious day weatherwise and when we got to the Ace Cafe we found about another 10-15 cars waiting there who had just decided on the day to appear, it turned into a great day, Overfinch sent a guy up with his car and the place was heaving with bikers who joined in the spirit and came strolling through the assembled cars admiring or criticising them and we all adjourned to the Ace for an inexpensive and very good nosh! 2 years ago I organised a day out driving some of the old Roman and Jacobean roads round the southern highlands. I posted it on all Martin's forums and got huge interest. In the end 2 RRS, 1 FFRR (JMC), 1 Defender, 10 Disco3's appeared in the motorway services area at J9 on the M9 - it was a grand day out.
The D3/D4 guys seem to always get great turn-outs for their events - FFRR/Freelander2 and RRS owners just cannot be as gregarious. I've joined in several Disco3 events and always been made extremely welcome - their SE Pub Meets in Guildford are a great evening out! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Hmmm, 3 out of 16 is a bit bad really but as said above, seems like these events are more suited to the D3 crowd. I'll be joining them on their events I think as we were so well looked after by them.

Now all I need to do is get some more D3 like stuff for the boot. Sunday was so fuuny, all the D3's with recovery gear, straps, hi-lift jacks, jetboils, water, sandwich boxes, cookers etc. The Range Rovers meanwhile had laptops and cameras

..but who had the 10mm spanner when they needed one?... ... - .- -.

i have just realised that we all had different types/years at the meet ...2005 td6, 2006 4.2 s/c and a 2007 tdv8...
as far as i could see there was no difference in each full fats off road capability which was, very impressive.. ... - .- -.
