L322 4.4 v8 2005 FBH problems

Hi!

I have some troubles with my FBH.
It will only run for 2 min 40 sec give or take.
Sometimes it wont start at all.

Last week i was able to Get to run! For four minutes….

I would like to try and remove the fuse, but i cannot seem to find it.
Is it in the glovebox?

Winter is right around the corner here in Norway, so would love to Get this sorted.

Any help?

if it is shutting down before the recommend run time, that can a sign of a weak or low battery. Do a battery test before anything else.

I have thought about that, but i tried the FBH when a ctek charger was connected to the battery. And it was 100% charged, still no good.

Sounds like the usual failed to ignite issue, iv been planning on the fbh conversion on my 4.4 m62. Bought everything tested everything just didn't get a chance to fit it.

You can remove the fbh and give it a service off the car BUT before you do try running an air line into the air intake when you try and fire it up, worked a treat on our D3 the fbh hadn't worked in years. Not sure if the L322 is the same software but on the D3 after to many failed to start it locks out and needs a reset. I'm not sure the L322 is that clever.

Great tip! I will try.
But does anybody know where the fuse is located?
The Webasto Thermo top c on my old Defender, fixed it self after a little play with the fuse.

Yes it is in the fuse box inside the glove box, the fuse is missing from mine so I have to add it to power the feed to the fbh

So i took a little look today.

Found fuse 59, and it was there.
Tried pulling it in different sequences, and it does indeed reset it.

But still no luck with that easy way.

After i reset it, it will lunch by pressing the additional fob, for to seconds then shut down.

After that i can not Get it to Even start by using the fob. I first need to press and hold the off button.

When i then start it, it will run for two minutes give or take.

Looks like i have to get it out from the wheelarch.

This is a standard webasto heated iv a couple in different stages of modification, there are certain conditions that must be met for them to work
1. Minimum quarter tank of fuel
2. Minimum battery voltage
3. No hard faults stored if there are these must be cleared with diag before it will work again. Or that's how they work on the D3/D4 and they are the same units.

I will have a look see on the disco forum or you can pop over and have a look see your self and follow the how to guides .

There is enough fuel, and i am sure the battery is good.

I will double check the battery.
But, i am not so sure about previous faultcodes and readings.

My local garage has a real guru that maybe can delete faultcodes if needed.

I think i might drop by him, for a quick test before i remove the Webasto.

It just doesn't get cold enuf here in the UK for it to have been soecced as an option when new those that have them fitted are a very rare car indeed. On the top gear episode in 2002 when the L322 was 1st launched Clarkson even comment on the small paraffin heater fitted in the wheel arch to warm the car up on the timer before getting into it.

I think almost (90%) of all Land Rover products in Norway, both Petrol and Diesel have fitted them.

But the Norwegian Land Rover Club and the associated forum are not that experienced with L322 or L405.
They do know the P38 very well, and the rest of the line up.

So, i had charged the battery full today.
I fired the FBH up via the fob.
Heard a little splash underneath before it stopped.

(The first time it always starts, and stops after a second).

It just spitted some coolant, but i was not able to find out from where since the ground was pretty wet.

That dont seem normal to me… Laughing

Defo shouldn't be spitting coolant best have a look see pull the fbh and strip it down the water pumps are known to fail that would cause a no flame condition for sure.

if you take a look at the disco forum they sell a cable you can plug in to test the FBH and you can down load the WTT test software FOC from Webasto.
