Rear door water ingress

I have just been to the car after it’s been stood a while and when I opened the rear door a load of water came rushing out

I’ve never had a problem before but it’s soaked the carpet too which is upsetting

I’ve visually checked the door drains at the bottom and they appear to be clear

Anyone ever had this happen to them before?

Cheers guys

Have the same, unsure where it is being retained though. Let us know if you find the reason.

Same on mine but the water seems to get trapped between seals. It doesn't get in the car. I've had the offside rear door card off and can't find any issues. Drain holes are free. The bottom of the door must be so close to the sill that it seals the water in. Bit of a mystery.

Found it titled "This shouldn't happen". Suggests using a piece of wood to prevent the bottom of the door closing whilst pushing inward at the top.

Think I'll live with it, don't fancy that idea knowing my luck I would end up moving the hinges and creating a world of hurt.

I wouldn't worry about causing any problems, the doors and hinges are remarkably strong. If anything you will be lucky to bend the door at all. Smile

Try this: get a ~1/2" length of black cable a couple of millimetres diameter (something like a bit of old headphone cable). Using a small amount of glue, glue it vertically across the bottom of door seal to hold a small section of seal away from the body to allow water to drain. Unobtrusive, and if it doesn't work then you can carefully peel it off.

Just place the wood as far back as you can on the bottom of the door Thumbs Up
Mine still doesn't leak after 9 years.
